Newest Generation of Shindo Preamps

Has anyone heard the new generation of Shindo preamps? I hear that changes were made to the line around 1-2 years ago. There are probably not that many of them in circulation as of yet. I am wanting to purchase an Aurieges for a system, and debating used vs. new. I would love to hear some impressions on the newest generation and whether they provide a sonic improvement over the prior generations. Thanks!

Good point.

In october/2010 Art Dudley (I was very sad when he passed away... I shared your love for Shindo gear) posted an extremely enthusiastic review about the Vosne Romanee:

On that date, he justified the high price of the VR based on some very good quality NOS components.
Beside this, the tubes was: C3m, EF800, 6072, 6189 and 6X4 (rectifier).

A few mounths later, the VR has been "updated":
New tubes: C3m, 6EJ7, 12AU7, 12AX7 and NO rectifier tube.
Someone could compare that version (tested by Art) with this new version? Would the new version also make AD so excited?
And about NOS components? Can still be found in the new VR?

Best regards.

First of all, Shindo preamps of every vintage are terrific. The usual system matching qualifiers apply as you did not mention what amplifier you will be using. I have heard the old one box version of the Aurieges as well as the line only version. I have also listened to a 2021 built Aurieges with phono (the only way they come now) although I did not experience vinyl playback. Aural memory is notoriously unreliable but with that caveat, the new Aurieges is exceptional. Very organic, spacious, tone and tempo are spot on. Not euphonic….just very natural with an addictive flow.
