New Tweak --- Its Fantastic

THE NEW TWEAK

Over the good part of this past year I’ve been beta testing a new tweak, the name of which is "Total Contact." Its a hi-bred graphene contact enhancer that is different from all other contact enhancers that have come and gone for one reason or another. I’m not new to these contact enhancers, having had quite a bit of experience with a product developed by the late Brian Kyle and his "Quick Silver" contact enhancer. The "Total Contact" is different ... a LOT different.

"Total Contact" is graphene based and is not a vibration control. It eliminates micro-arching between two contacts. Micro-arching, much like Micro-vibration smears the sound in our stereo systems. Its the type of distortion that we don’t know is there .... until we eliminate it. There is no break-in as we know it. The sound is improved right off the bat, but what you hear is only a smidgen of what’s to come.

I tested three generations of "TC," each of which was an improvement over the previous incarnation. The final mix was cryogenitically treated and made for a more effective, much smoother application. It comes in a large hypodermic needle type plunger containing 1.5 ml of product and includes a instructional DVD and an application brush.

The application should be applied with a very thin coat to all of your electrical connections .... from your cartridge pins to your power cords. I did my entire system, including the ends of my fuses.

Upon initial application, you will notice an improvement in clarity, correctness of tonal balance and a more overall organic sound. But ... that is just scratching the surface of what this magic paste does. As it cures, the improvements become more apparent. Much more!

There are two real break-through events that happen almost to the day with "Total Contact," one at four weeks and another at eight weeks . At four weeks, you’ll get a real jump in clarity and overall improvement. That’s only a taste though of what’s to come at eight weeks. At eight weeks your system’s focus will make a jump in SQ that is so real - its surreal.

After 40 years in the hobby, and a total tweak nut, I have never heard anything that does what this graphene paste does. The see-through clarity at eight weeks becomes simply amazing. The "paste" eventually cures into a kind of polymer plastic and it seems that the sound improves with each listening session. So, its important that you leave your contacts alone for the duration. If you’re the type of person that continually switches wires in and out, you’ll have to re paste until enough time has elapsed to get "the cure."

The only problem I had was with the first batch and that had to do with shorting out a tube pin in the line stage. Use the "TC" very sparingly on tube pins, if at all. I only had problems with the line stage tube pins. The Amp, CD Player and Phono Stage has had no tube pin problems at all.

Tim Mrock, one of our fellow A’goners, is the developer of the product. Its taken Tim 15 years and several patents to get it right. Tim has "pasted" every electrical contact he can find in his audio system, all of the switches in his circuit breaker box, every contact in his car ... and has used it in commercial applications such as hospital circuit breakers, surgical lights ... and other places where efficiency and long life of electrical components are deemed important.

This product is highly recommended to anyone who truly wants to get the most out of his/her audio systems. There’s enough product in each tube to do at least two audio systems as it just takes a very thin coat on each application to be effective. The last tube was enough to do my system twice and then a friend’s system this past weekend.

PS: There were a couple of other A’goner beta testers of this product as well. Hopefully, they will chime in here with their experiences for comparison. I "pasted" both of Steve Fleschler’s systems a few days ago, perhaps he will comment on his results too. We forgot to paste Steve’s power cords though, so there’s a lot more to be had from Steve’s two fantastic systems.

I applied TC to my ethernet cable connectors from modem to router to Mac mini and streaming Tidal is just amazing. I started pasting TC about 3 weeks ago to power cable and speaker cable connectors and then every few days or so would apply it to something new. Eventually pasted the pins on all my tubes and iec inlets but after doing the Ethernet connectors I got a big jump in performance. This TC product is truly amazing. Easily the best addition to my system I can remember in quite a while.
Oh I know geoff, I’ll do one even better. The picture quality from my Apple TV greatly enhanced after I pasted the ethernet cable connectors to the modem and router and it runs off the WiFi from the router.
I'm impressed with what TC has done for me. From all the things I've pasted I found tube pins and anything connected to the modem and router to have the biggest impact. I'm slowly changing out connectors on my power cables and when I do I'm applying TC to the wires and contacts to great effect.

I started about a month ago with the speaker and interconnect cables and each week after have applied to something different and would like to open up my dac and amp to fiddle but I'm getting low on supply so i may order more unless Tim's announcement next month steers me in another direction.

Look forward to what you gotta say next month Tim!!
I guess most of the threads I visit here on Audiogon would be considered a commercial or advertisement like High Fidelity, Core Power Technologies, Cerious Technologies...

I tried the Total Contact enhancer and I really like it, so much so I can’t go back and not have it applied to my cables and connectors. It’s probably my favorite add on I’ve done to my system except for maybe the High Fidelity mc-0.5’s but even then when the TC is applied to them they work hand in hand.

 But it doesn’t work for everyone. A buddy of mine who I share a lot of similar likes and tastes when it comes to tweaks and certain products does not like what it does for his system. The only negative I’ve had with it is when I applied it to the SR Blue fuse on my Lampi Atlantic dac. Made everything sound thin and bright. After two days of it not changing much I went and wiped it off the fuse and everything warmed back up.

I gotta ask, what’s different about this thread vs the various Core Power Tech threads that discussed the 1800 and other products from Mark Schifter with Mark using those threads to talk about his business and discuss shipping times (or lack thereof) ?
Are business owners of audio products allowed to use a thread started by a customer who shares their experiences with said products as a platform for their business to discuss shipping times, share or give out their phone numbers and email addresses to potential customers, and give updates as to what’s the current state of their business?
I have no qualms about it, actually I’m glad owners are allowed to participate without being accused of advertising. The hypocrisy of this gets a little thick at times. I guess if you’re interested in a product or have placed an order with the owner/company then it’s ok because well you’re interested, but if you’re reading thru threads and come across something you find silly or think people can’t possibly be this favorable of a product then forum rules are suddenly being broken.

I'm really happy with what the TC is doing for my system. I'm about 6 weeks in from the first application to my speaker, interconnect, and some pc connectors. I've done a little here and there the weeks following that so I'm not sure where everything is at as far as curing time but the last week I've had some nice improvements in soundstaging size and realism.

To me this TC does a heck of a lot more for $300 than one HF mc-0.5 so I'm really impressed and happy with what its doing.
Don’t even need google. Type in Total Contact in the main search page here on Audiogon and it comes right up.
@grannyring

Would you characterize TC as the great equalizer? As it does seem to negate the desire to upgrade cables or caps or other parts.
To those that have treated their speaker crossovers, what all exactly did you paste? My speaker crossovers are easily (somewhat) accessible so I plan on doing this sometime soon.
@oregonpapa

So I’m assuming this new product works in conjunction with TC. Is it another contact enhancer or something completely different?
I've noticed lately that tweeks like the sonic tonic 2 from tweek geek is not a good additive to the sound like it was before the TC.
The SR Blue fuse on my dac was the only thing I didn’t like the TC on. Made everything too bright and thin for my tastes.
@grannyring

I was wondering about that.

On a side note, is your Lush usb cable still for sale on AudioCircle? You got quite a few asking about it.
I started a new thread in the misc section about the Omega E mat as I’d like to hear from those that have used it.
