New Synergistic Product: Tuning Discs

I was lucky enough to be asked to try out a prototype of a new Synergistic Research product. For now, I think they are calling it a Tuning disc.

What it looks like is a small wafer (smaller than a dime and is very thin). They are either in gold or purple tops and are attached using some tacking substance. I placed 2 on top of my Shunyata Sigma V2 interconnects.

I wasn’t expecting much but whoa, did these things work! First, I tried the purple on my interconnects and boy did the soundstage widen with lots of air.

Then I tried the gold discs and though the sound stage shrunk perhaps a little but the naturalness of the music was fantastic!

Hard to believe that these things work so well, I am really impressed.

Are we sure there are four dots per package? Two purple and two gold dots for a cost of $199? This sounds like too good to be true

I surely hope so. Alfred Kainz from High End Electronics did not have any answer to this question, and did not know when they would be available for sale. Perhaps @ted_denney can clarify? Also Ted, when is the new Atmosphere SX Reference USB going to be released?

Anybody the buys a Synergistic product IMHO is a SUCKER!

Angry? A little bit?

If you have a cat or a dog, may I very humbly suggest you put down your keyboard (before you break it), and go pet your cat or dog. It’s soothing

And THAT my friend is a very rational decision!

Also, deciding not to try them at all may also be very rational too. Coming here and throwing a tantrum (like some) on something that may be of zero interest to you, it’s very emotional. To say the least.

@jjss49 : Synergistic sells via dealers. Not direct. You can check through your dealer, or you can inquire with SR for a dealer near you. In the SR website, there is form you can fill out when you hit “buy” under each product.

I know the following are SR dealers:

https://highend-electronics.com/collections/synergistic-research

https://www.thecableco.com

If you look at the SR page on these new products, it says right there “30 day money back guarantee” :

@wesheadley :

"I don't understand it, therefore it cannot work, therefore I won't try it."

That’s a very fair and rational decision on a purchase (or lack thereof). We are all adults and make our decisions. Fine. Although they are not available for sale yet to general public.

My question for you is why the tantrum in this thread? You sound angry. Challenging people with bets and all. What are you trying to accomplish? If something does not interest me, I just ignore it, and don’t waste my time on useless discussions about that something. No?

ongoing censorship of objectivist views

Objectivist views?? Of what? Of something that has not been released yet, and the dude never tried? I thought objectivism is about trying objectively something, not about having an opinion on something that they never laid eyes or hands on. This is very funny 😄 It sounds like your definition of fair and objective is drawn upon 4chan sites

Oh… and the admins here would never delete anything unless it was violating one or more of their policies, including:

Abusive towards another member

‘Explicit or violent content

Contains profanity

My apologies if any small animals were injured as a result of my mistake.

That’s not nice. No need to be sarcastic.

Not sure why you are attacking me on this. Someone stated the “objectivists’” posts were removed. I observed those posts from Wesheadly were not removed. That’s the extent of it. Now I see some posts were removed. Likely from the “other side” of the discussion. I know when Pesky Rabbit and the Tsushima start posting, it gets very toxic. Every single thread these two (or is it one dude with two handles?) participate. They tend to only participate in certain threads. It’s when they start posting, that the thread goes sideways and becomes toxic. That’s when I stop following. It’s time for me to do the same for THIS thread. They ruined it

Not sure what you @thecarpathian are talking about. I quickly revisited the past couple of pages, and all the posts from Wesheadly are still here. Nothing I can tell he posted that was removed. What was removed?

I do see some posts removed, but not his posts. And I think the posts have to be reported by users for Audiogon to review them for deletion. We know who does the “report” button often, don’t we?

@ozzy :

I believe in a few days I will ask Tammy to remove this thread.

As much as I love reading about such things, people sharing their experiences, I am afraid you are right, and this is the way to go. For some reason, like flies to poop, they become magnet for deranged individuals

So @grannyring you are going to let the crazies take over this forum too?

I always thought of Audiogon as the last stand, the only remaining audio forum where people can freely discuss any audio related subject without being ridiculed by the measurement morons and the general purpose  psychopaths and internet trolls. Unfortunately, other than WBF and a few dealers-run forums, where these jerks are kicked out immediately, there is not much left out there. I for one will continue to post in Audiogon. There are still a few good people left here.

What do people think of heroin having never tried it? Just saying.

I though audiophiles like clean simple signal paths?    Is mucking with the EM field a good thing?

These "audiophiles" people must be very very strange people 🙄

Apparently for the same reason we should care about your confirmation bias. But hey....no one like to admit looking like a fool.

Confirmation bias works both ways. Especially when you don't even try something. You just know

These “contrarians” who poo-poo the efficacy of expensive tweaks, cables (and any audio product for that matter) often appear in many other forums, threads, audio groups, questioning the merits of expensive audio products.  They are either disgruntled with their lot in life (e.g. a spouse who wears the proverbial pants, a wallet that squeaks so loud they hate to open it, etc.) or their skills of self-persuasion require constant exercising with selfish expectations of indulgence on our part.

Not having a fact-based opinion because it's foreclosed by those circumstances, however, doesn't prevent them from expressing their frustration-based comments.

It's not about whether they can or cannot afford to pay more.  Hobbyists who operate within a prescribed budget are quite content with value-based high performance systems and work diligently to accomplish that end. They bear no grudge against those who chose to spend more.

Dow Jones:

I’ve mentioned this before and actually flagged this thread as being advertising.

Life must be miserable for you. Dude: find a new hobby

It’s a disease. Mental disorder. Called Good Samaritan Syndrome.. chronic hero syndrome. Or savior complex disorder. Many people in the audio forums suffer from these. I had no idea they existed until I started frequenting these forums. It’s so sad
