I"ve had many Sugden products over the years...As of now I am running the Sapphire amp, it's wonderful. Of all the products they make the LA-4 Preamp is the most disappointing, the notion for the thread starter this is required or a great preamp is laughable. Sugden makes some great stuff but their preamp is not that great. I've had other preamps, ARC was incredible, and my current Leben is leaps and bounds better than the Sugden preamp. My point is, the amps are freindly to alot of preamps and there are alot BETTER preamps than the Sugden, by a large margin
