I'd be curious as to what the basis for being on "the threshold of passage" would be - certainly, the technology is available and has been for a long time. And I'm not sure why the legal and control issues would suddenly have changed for the better.
Now that Reference Recordings are releasing in this "WAV" format-which is the equivalent of the master disc- surely it will be forthcoming generaly, and a boon to music lovers.
