I am assuming that you are talking about the DP-85(v?), which is yet to be released in the U.S.? One of my Japanese magazines quoted the price at 880,000 yen, which comes to about US$7,000. In other word, it will cost $14,000+ here...so the retail price you quoted is probably pretty close. Too bad! 8-)

You refer to the new DP-85, which is now on their website. However, since the survival of SACD is not entirely certain, the DP-75V, which is modifiable with cards, may be more future-proof as a stand alone player.
