New Omega E Mat from Perfect Path Technologies

Many of you own or have read of the highly-regarded PPT Omega E Mat, one of Tim Mrock’s revolutionary signal-enhancing accessories. Just prior to his untimely passing, Tim had finished developing a new generation of his Omega mat, soon to be available. Krissy Mrock has asked a few of us to introduce this new mat, here given the working title of The Double Omega.

In distinguishing the Double Omega, we know the original Omega, herein called the single, as a 7.5” by 10”, rather heavy and somewhat pliable mat, a bit more than 1/8” thick and with a vinyl-like feel. One face is glossy white, displaying the PPT logo and Omega name, while the other is black, smooth and magnetized. Sandwiched between these faces is the active material that causes components to reject the EMI that saturates everything in our surroundings. The Double Omega is much the same, with one important difference: the magnetized face has the finely-textured feel of around, say, 220-grit sandpaper. This texture, it is presumed, comprises yet a second active layer of EMI rejection. Presumed—because working details of the Double Omega are not well understood—better yet to know how to apply it.

With the understanding that the single Omega E mats generate field effects from both faces, mats have typically been placed under and over components and vertically over circuit breakers. How you apply the Double Omega will depend on best use and experimentation. In my case, I have removed two single mats, lying side-by-side, from the top of my large Wadia CDP and have replaced those with two Double Omegas. The Wadia is a one-box player that contains a pre-amp, so I wanted that second, strong field effect exerting downward as well as upward. I also have several singles placed underneath, just as before. Going straight to amps, this player is my only source, so I want it fully protected from EMI. Your priorities will differ.

As of this writing, I am only thirty-hours in on placing these Double Omegas, and I can already tell you they are powerful in their prevention of EMI within my digital source. Yet another veil has been lifted—all instruments and voices are even more sorted out in the aural space with new information heard within that space. There is much more decay heard against a new silence behind and between the musicians. I am already so pleased and excited about what the Double Omega E mats are doing. As Krissy told me, Tim was really stoked to have these new mats available. Rather than wait for the the fourteen-day window of improvement, I want to get this intro out so others can relay their experiences sooner.

I received 2 Omega + mats yesterday. I was told the best place for them would be on the inside or on the outside electrical panel door. I noticed on the packaging, it states outside panel only. I was wondering if this statement was for any potential liability issues in case they somehow lost adhesion? Looking forward to listening.
Thanks fellows. I have them on the inside of the access door. They fit perfectly. Can't wait!
......OK, some other positive attributes of the products I already had like, an overall ease of presentation, more natural timbre etc are all still there. Right now, I can't tell how much that is enhanced. One other thing about the lp I'm playing, I could hear, in quiet passages, Aoife's faint breathing that was unheard until now.

So I'm hyped up by what I've heard and what I hope to hear later. I can sure see myself buying some Total Contact in the near future.
I had placed the 2 Omega + mats inside the access door when I first got them but wanted some confirmation. So now they've been installed for 43 hours. I'm wanting to set my base-line here with you guys initially and hopefully any progress will have more meaning.

I have 2 dedicated lines in my listening room. One for the front-end, the other for the amp/s and subs. I have a Hydra 6 on the front-end with a Bybee iQSE inside and an Akiko AC Enhancer plugged into the first outlet on the Hydra. I have a Akiko Phono Enhancer into my TT. On my amp/s and subs, I have a Hydra 4 with a Bybee iQSE inside with an Akiko AC Enhancer plugged into it's first outlet. I have (4) High Fidelity MC.05 on this dedicated line and (5) MC.05 on the front-end dedicated line. I have (2) Bybee iQSE inside my K&K Audio Trio and (2) iQSE inside my SMc amp.

The Bybee & Akiko products are to address EMI as well, so I've experienced what they bring to the table. What I'm hearing today is similar to what I experienced when I installed those products. The biggest difference is the Omega+ Mats treat the entire system. There's my baseline.

Upon hearing the first side of Crooked Still "Shaken By a Low Sound", My Sussurro MkII, (cold), I immediately noticed how much perceived volume I hear at a very low volume setting. I had experienced this with my other products but not at this magnitude.

( I'm going to end here and pick up later....the HVAC guy is here)
Frank,

For me, I believe I should wait the 2-3 weeks before making any changes. Right now, all I'm experiencing are improvements. I've read where some say their PPT products don't mesh well with others. It's early on but while others' experiences are valid to them within their system/room/hearing/listening biases and so on. they really don't translate to me/my room/system and so on.

BTW, one really big test is (and sometimes I don't even realize it when I'm doing it) when I notice that I'm once again tapping my feet or moving my body to the music while listening. There's a lot to be said for that!
@thecarpathian,

Wow, not a bad idea? I have a 1991 Ford F-150 (bought new) with an Alpine cd head unit, MB Quart speakers, Alpine amps and huge  outboard capacitors..................hmmm.
@jerrybj,

You're situation is somewhat similar to mine. I'm early on to the PPT stuff but I'd say the 2 Omega + Mats.
I would also appreciate anyone’s personal experience as to what they experienced when adding/subtracting the PPT with Bybee/High Fidelity.
Thanks

I noticed nobody had an issue so far with PPT vs. Akiko Audio. ??
Frank,

Your previous suggestion that I might try removing the Bybee products....was that from personal experience? If so, why?
I know I'm still early on... just want to express what i'm hearing/feeling....
and that is...there is no coloration with the Omega + E-Mat. It justs adds to what you already have worked hard to achieve. Great! This is seemingly the perfect upgrade.
@docknow ,

I have the first two Big Thief lps, I'm missing out though, on their last two. Thank you for the post!
I appreciate everyone's response. Since I hear nothing but improvement now, it's hard to see that there is a problem with the PPT stuff vs. the Bybee/High Fidelity.
I'm through trying to justify what I'm hearing verses what I'm suppose to be hearing. A troubling fact was when I asked Frank about his suggestion to take out the Bybee products. When asked, he admitted that he was just reporting what Tim had told him. I only suggest/report on things I've actually tried. BIG difference people.

Anyway, I like what I'm hearing.
From my layman/logical mind, I find it hard to believe there could be an issue. Especially since the Bybee/High Fidelity/Akiko stuff is passive. Someone please explain?
Frank,

I should have stayed true to my original post.

What you or others hear is one thing, but when you or others make a suggestion, based upon someone else’ thoughts, that’s a big problem.
I assume you were a audio reviewer? If so, you should know better.

I love everyone here, but I have my own opinions, that are based upon listening, then, listening again. I NEVER recommend or suggest anything without an explanation.
Well, I couldn't help myself as I noticed how much traffic was on this thread. I do have one question....Is there any chance of the Omega Mats becoming saturated...IE non-effective?

I know the product I'm going to mention is different but, here goes....the grounding blocks (many manufactures)...where I've read they get saturated making them less or no longer useful.
@Krissy,

Thank you so much for the enjoyment I'm experiencing from the Omega+ Mats! I appreciate, what must have been, the early/trying times, research that went into your products. May your company continue to prosper!
Frank,

Interestingly, I played Santana last night as well. First time in over a year.
@jerrybj

I'll look forward to your impressions as I've been told that the Omega + mats aren't synergistic with the MC-0.5 and such. I have Akiko products as well.
@yoby

Actually, I'm already hearing positive effects. More transparency and dynamics........
Well, I just removed my MC-05s (8) and didn’t notice any sonic penalty yet. Not sure what to make of that....maybe since their effectiveness built over time, the fact they're pulled from my system may take time to notice?
Glad I removed the MC-0.5s. The iQSEs will be at a later date.

Frank,

It was "Abraxsas" MFSL. Listening to "S/T" MFSL/45rpm now, at more fidelity than ever before.

Was wondering if your Legacy speakers are sealed/ported? With the recent talk regarding the mats on speaker cabinets, I had thought of a better solution may be to set a mat inside a port? My Usher Mini 2s have a front slotted port. It seems like a prime placement opportunity for a mat?
@mitchagain,

My Ushers slot is slightly smaller than the stock Omega+Emat. I'd have to trim close to an inch off of the smaller stock dimension. Otherwise, it's be a great chance to review!

Well, I had previously asked if there is a saturation point? Now, (TAT) has introduced another qwerk, recharge? This presumption has many questions running around in my head................
Not to take away from Krissy, the new Synergistic cable risers sound,(see the video) and look to be a great idea.
@fleschler ,

You should be able to start your virtual system in your profile page.
I had a similar question on one of these PPT threads and Krissy said she can make custom sized mats.
IMO, I wouldn't think it wise to chose one over another. The unit you're referring to is not well know yet and the PPT stuff isn't really meant to be a replacement, but more of an enhancement to your current components. Did I say that right?
@michael_be,

Wow, what has this world come to, where we can rent audio products?
