does anyone who has the unit or otherwise knows whether this unit will play dvd-r discs that you burn yourself. 

stereo playback for SACDs, audio CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and DVD-Rs

so doesnt this mean its a universal player?

does the sa-ki ruby play dvd-r too?
