New Lampizator Level 4/ Version 4 DAC in the house

I've owned a L4 GEN 4 since April and have been addicted to it ever since. I had a MWTP about 9 dacs ago. The Modwright Transporter is very good digital and sounds it. Another words the new gen 4 Lamp does not sound digital AT ALL. This is what sets it apart from all 9 of my previous DACS.

So i assume any Lamp comparo favoring the MWTP, is VS a older non-current Lamp.

ECC40s were all made in the Herleen (spchk) factory cept for the Tunsgram ecc40s. I know from experience that the 5y3 or 6x5 rectis (depending upon which one you have) can be greatly improved with a NOS sub over the russian stock recti. Talking BIG improvment with a small ($10-$25) investment.

The Bendix is a interesting and rare recti sub but the circuit has to be modded to accept it. Without hearing it, I cannot comment. I'm suspect about it, since even NOS 5y3 or 6x5 is a huge uptick over the stock russian tubes.

I've read some people call the Bendix an aggressive sound. So between being stuck on having to buy a rare and pricey Bendix recti. NO tube rolling options, and doubtful I want my digital to sound aggressive, I will probably just stay curious unless, I get to hear it first.

If you wanna roll tubes buy L6 like I did. Roll 6sn7s all day, lots too choose. No need to mod the DAC, then get bent over buying pricey 6900s if you can find them. Ecc40 sounds sweet to me as well and it's been a consistent output tube for the L4. Reasonably priced too.

I don't know Glorys DAC but if it is not modified it might suffer b/c a Bendix 5852 draws 1.2 amps as opposed to .6amps of a normal 6x5.

Lukasz's says(states on his website) of the 301 parts in GEN 4 only one is shared with the the GEN 3 (the power button).

I'm the North American co-distributor for Lampizator and I would like to clear up some confusion. We make a USB converter ( converts USB to SPIDF) and a SPIDF transport ( aka the Digilampizator ). Two different products. The transport is a higly modified Squeezebox DUET with a tube rectified PSU and a tube SPIDF output. The tubed SPIDF allows us to output a perfect sinewave to our DACS. It is a cinch to setup, much easier then any turntable. I had a mac mini previously but sold it once I heard the Digilampizator transport.

Me and Fred ( Gopher )admittedly had weather related problems getting all our gear to the show on time. Not until Friday did we have what I thought was exceptional sound quality. Can't please all the people all the time, but we are very happy that we pleased many nonetheless.

The chip in the 4,5 and 7 definitely do hi-rez as well as PCM so no limitations there. Only the 6 is limited to PCM due to the the vintage of the chip.

The main difference between the 4 and 5 is the fact the latter is dual mono. The 7 is a completely different beast, dual mono as well but employs direct heated triodes.

I'm the co-distributor and we just debuted the 7 for the first time at CES in Vegas. It's supremely musical to anything i've heard. The delicacy and soul of music must be heard to believed. Forthcoming pro reviews are already in the works.

Glad your enjoying it JWM. The L5 is a monster out of the box, even with stock tubes. You heard my L5 ( At CES) and it only had 150hrs on it. At 500+hrs any hint of edge or glare is now gone. The sound will become sweeter and even more addicting. Enjoy!
