There are a few speaker manufacturers using concrete, steel, marble, granite and other exotic materials for the cabinets, to control resonances.

But one thing they all these materials do is ring, at varying frequencies - depending on the material used.

This is where slate would seem to have an advantage, it is by nature a constrained layer speaker cabinet, hundreds of minute layers deposited over eons. It would seem to be the perfect speaker enclosure material due to its damping capability.

It would be good to see some more speaker manufacturers other than Fischer & Fischer take up this material in their designs.
