Dopogue, have you heard the Sphere's "Live" disc? Italian pressing. Very close to the quality of "Flight Path". Just got one off Ebay for cheap.

I recently had a audiophile friend over for a listen. He brought his copy of Sphere's "Flight Path". It absolutely floored me. It had such a low sound floor. I really don't know much about these guys other than they were Tholonius Monk's band. These guys have chops! A really amazing performance on what may be the best sounding jazz album I have ever heard.

I just found a copy for myself at the local used record shop for $3.99!
Dopogue you are dead on. Seeing the guys in front of the WTC with a album titled "Flight Path" is very ironic.
One could wax about the flight path of the country in regards to the greed of Wall Street, but of course the obvious 911 deads have nothing to do with that.(talk about irony)

I just listened to it again this morning on my small system (Snell E, junk Technics reciever,el cheapo Radio Shack turntable, Sony PS1 CD player)which is surprisingly revealing and was blown away. the bass player is a genius, and the Snells showed it very well.

On my big system,(Acoustat 2,Audio Alchemy DLC,Hafler 220,VPI HMW19/Benz Micro)it is absolutely magical. Maybe the quietest, detailed, nuanced, holographic record I have heard.

Can't wait to go back to work and upgrade to some tubes.
gidde up economy!
I have acquired a couple of Chris Isaak LPs."Chris Isaak"(first album)and "Heart Shaped World" (my favorite Chris Isaak).
These are fairly rare, because he started recording at the beginning of the CD days. Anyway, these are really good.I also have these on CD.
The CDs are good, but they don't come close to the LPs! Here is another chance to show your non audiophile friends how good vinyl is. Huge soundstage, low sound floor.Chris's voice has a even more eerie sound to it. He has great texture and a range beyond most artists.Perfect for a good vinyl rig.
My "Heart shaped World" came from a dealer in Brazil. These are not easy to come by.
The first album is not "Silvertone" it just says Chris Isaak on the cover.I have Silvertone too.
Ebay is a good place to start your quest, but google used lps to further the expedition.
good luck and have fun.

My new Christy Moore LP "Voyage"in near mint and a promo pressing.
I have been playing this over and over. I took it to a friends and we played the last song over and over to adjust his VTA (which we finally got).
Very high gain low soundfloor, nice soundstage, amazing bass, great music and artists, sometimes haunting, sad and beautiful. Also just got another Christy Moore "self titled" that is also a winner.I got it in "sealed new" condition. Also has very quiet low sound floor and everything mentioned above.

this is addictive music

how good is that?
My newest fav is my sealed Benjamin Britten "War Requiem" with:
Simon Rattle/Burlington Phil. Robert Tear, Thomas Allen

A sonic blockbuster, and amazingly a digital LP from 1983.Amazing piece and a great recording.
