Hey Ted,
I now have a pair of Revelation MK-V's that I modded with the advice of Robert Maicks at Star Sound. Made a very noticeable improvement in clarity and dynamics throughout the frequencies ranges. I also have the Sistrum SP-101's under them. Removed the parts between the speakers, cut a 2x6 down to a pair of 10"x 5" boards 1"H. I cut the inside of the board to 3.5"x 8.5" so it matches the rectangular hole near the back of both cabinets. I sealed it with silicone caulk under the board and screwed it with 2" coarse drywall screws.
Robert sent me 14 inverted couplers, four 1" Audio Points threaded, four narrow 1" APs threaded, and 8 brass inserts. At the bottom, I installed the couplers to go on top of the Sistrum points after recessing the space for the fat part of the coupler to lodge. On top of the bottom cabinet I drilled into it so the inserts could be screwed in. Under the bottom of the top cabinet, I did the same corresponding thing as the bottom by recessing the space where the coupler will lodge so that it will fit directly on the point.
Once you glue a flat strip to the top of the 1" thick board, you are ready to put it all together. IF you measured carefully, the coupler will fit over the points that are under them. This also holds the top cabinet in place so it has less chance of get knocked over. The top cabinet MUST sit flush on the board that seals it to the bottom cabinet. It also must sit solidly on all the coupler/points.
I have the Nuforce Ref 9 V3 SE mono amps with the latest power supplies Bob Smith has been using that have 500 watts power per side and sound wonderful in all ways. Also have a TRL DUDE preamp that has hoppin' dynamics, powerful bass, and very live sounding overall. It's a great combo with the Revelations.
I'm the only one to do this mod, but if you have pretty good tools and are accurate, you can do this. It's well worth it as the sound jumps a couple notches more real.
Bob
