Need preamp suggestions for Lexicon amp and B&W Silver Signature
First time asking for advice here. In 1997 I purchased a pair of B&W Silver Signature Seven speakers along with a Lexicon LX-5 amp and Proceed PAV processor. The PAV died and I have been using a PS Audio Sprout as a preamp until I make a decision about a new pre-amp.
My inputs are an entry level Music Hall 2.2 turntable and Sonos controller with an optical output. I still love the soundstage from the B&W's which are coupled with a Velodyne active sub. My listening room is very small and I am looking for best option to drive the system going forward:
option 1 - Keep the LX-5 and add a new preamp preferably one with a phono stage and digital input
option 2 - Replace the amp and preamp with matched newer generation equipment
option 3 - Keep the LX-5 and purchase a pre-amp with digital input and add a separate phono stage
Given my low end turntable not sure that purchasing separates for the phono stage is really cost effective. My budget for the project is $3K to $5K. I have been looking at PS Audio and Schitt equipment but I am also open to buying something pre-owned. Thank you.
