Music before Medeski Martin and Wood show??

I was at a recent MM&W show in Indianapolis and heard some interesting and very enjoyable music before the show and between the sets. Never found out who it was and would love to know if anyone can help. Also what is your favorite MM&W recording? Thanks in advance. Peace!
