MSL Signature Platinum set up with Wally Tools analysis

I’ve learned a lot over the past week from JR at Wally Tools.

The net result is the cart sounds amazing, and I can relax and fully enjoy the music without wondering if I should tinker with the alignment/adjust VTA "by ear" or test record etc.

Aside from the science and engineering, JR is really passionate about helping vinyl enthusiasts squeeze every last drop of information out of those grooves.

I’d never heard of Wally Tools until I found the MSL cart for sale on USAM. The ad included a WT analysis report, which was meaningless to me initially, but it occurred to me that if a 3rd party had analyzed the cart using microscopy, there was an opportunity to have the condition verified before transferring cash.

A call to JR quickly confirmed I was dealing an expert, so a deal was struck, along with a purchase of the Wally Tools required to take full advantage of the objective data.

I devoured most of JR’s videos while I waited for the package to arrive and with some real-time support (and some sweating and cussing), I successfully installed the new cart with amazing results.

The effort and cost of this process is trivial compared to what we spend on gear and tweaks and honestly, if you’ve spent good money on a cart and aligned it using traditional methods, you really don't know what you are missing.
