Moon 280D best computer setup

I am fairly new to playing music files from a computer through my stereo. I purchased a Moon 280D several months ago but live nowhere near a dealer or anyone with experience with the unit.

I run a PC into the 280D using the JRiver Media Centre software with my PC connected via USB to the 280D and HDMI to my smart TV as monitor however I am unhappy with the noise from the PC's fan and want to move it into another room. This probably means having to connect the 280D to my router and using the MIND module and a tablet for playback.

I am interested in hearing from other owners of the Moon 280D who have more computer audio experience than I and are willing to help me best set up my system.

Yes! Jriver for the win. Enable SoX and load file into memory in the settings for best sound quality.

With regards to the fan noise from the computer, you can set cooling to passive instead of active under power options. If that doesn't work, you can swap the fans for silent ones. This is very easy to do.

If you're only using it to play music, any laptop with a SATA 3 SSD or nVme storage would be ideal. I would avoid hard drives as they are much slower and noisy.
