Modern Day Ragtime Genius

I just read the about the artist Reginald Robinson in a Chgo Trib article. I can't say I'm a ragtime fan but was amazed by this musicians' background. Seems he spent a lot of time at home to avoid the gunfire in the housing projects. Then, taught himself the piano and ragtime after being motivated by the music from ice cream trucks. I thought I would bring this to the attention of others...read the article for your self at his website.
Has music samples too.

Hey, nice post! I had read about him several years ago in the Chicago Tribune, but never did get a chance to hear him play. I've just ordered all 3 of his CDs and can't wait for the 4th one to come out!
If you enjoy his music, you owe it to yourself to pick up something by Eric (Ric) Schoenberg. Another modern day ragtime genius and a masterful fingerpicker. He made a few recorders in the 70's on Rounder Records in MA (I think). These days he records his own stuff and sells it online through his company's website. He has a guitar building shop in California. The name escapes me; thankfully google is an effective replacement for short term memory.
