Modded Cambridge 550C Very good?? or just OK?

Mapleshade Audio offers a "modded Cambridge" 550C CD player that supposedly will outperform CD players 4 times it retail price of $895.00. Mapleshade makes such claims about its other audio products, whether speaker cable IC's PC's.,etc However,has anyone heard this player or own one?? Need some input. Thank you

I owned the CA Azur 550 for a number of years. It was a good player that did nothing wrong. To my tastes though, it was clearly a notch or so below the level of the Rega Apollo that I have and that you are currently using. I used the 550 in a second system, so maybe it would have performed at the Apollo's level if I swapped it into that system, which I never did.
