Miracles in Audio, by luck, by good choices,by design or by tweaking...


I owned a low cost headphone for many years, the Fostex TH7B, first version( a new one close version exist Fostex TH7BK), semi-open headphone...I was never completely satisfied by any headphones I ever owned: Hifiman 400, Stax basic lamda, Stax 5 gold,Akg 340,Akg 701, beyerdynamic 990, and T150... Because in each of them with all their qualities I never listen to at the same times, a confortable headphone with natural timbre and voicing, with a good imaging and a realistic soundstage(not too close to my ears)...


For the last days I tweaked this Fostex, to damp his internal resonance I used sorbothane, I put some shungite stones at the exterior part of the cups and I use some Herkimer diamond in the interior pads( 3 at 120 degree) … Now this low cost headphones crush all my others if I sum all his qualities... For example his mids and voicing cannot beat the AKG 340 but among all my other headphones it is the best that is near that mids and it is more confortable, and with longer cable than the 340...His imaging is better and more realistic than the 340 etc etc...It is the same if I compare with the others...


His most important qualities is natural timbre and clear imaging,very precise pinned point accuracy and natural, so clear it crush for that ALL the others to dust...In the French audio circle the reviews were more than very positive few years ago...Diapason d’or and choc Classica...I am not the only one impressed buy the ratio quality/price... But remember that thesae reviewers dont tweak their headphone...The difference between before and after the tweaks are staggering...


Yes Miracles happens in Audio: cost is under 100 American dollars... Few years ago they cost me 50 bucks new... I never dreamed that I will go back to headphones...

When i started this thread, if you read my first post, you will know that i never intended this thread to be my personal diary about my audio journey...

I waited for others testimonies, but it seems that except for buying a new audio component, the only miracles were my own creations....

I must stay still and less vocal on all thread about my experience and experiments....I hate provocating negative reactions... But my journey is now too crazy to be believe anyway then...I would not believe my own thread if i was someone else , but being creative i will try some crazy ideas for sure.... I hope others will after reading me....

For my last control device, the 2 "golden plates" +9 H.D. on the ceiling, the audible effect is not subtle at all, but powerful, in regular and nearfield listening and remember that:





My device controls at the difference with a "tweak" are all cabled and connected one with another in a single grid....

This is the incremental steps ladder of my listenings experiments that guide me, one step at a time, to each addition of a connected ( by copper cable) new device....

"Tweaks" are secondary, costly sometimes, addition to an audio system... My device controls grid is not a secondary addition that add a little something to the S.Q.... My cabled grid of devices controls modify totally my audio system on a new level of S.Q.




My concept of the three embeddings controls comes from this ongoing listenings experiments experience....

The "golden plates" are the only device tough i use simultaneously in the electrical grid embedding control and in the acoustical embedding control...

Other many devices used are mention in this thread....

And the 2 only devices i bought new, i modified them, the cheap chinese Schumann generator grid, and the Nobsound chinese version of springs boxes....

I never envision to transform this thread in a personal journal, i hope that it was useful and fun for some....





A last remark:
Most people when they speak about their "marvellous " audio system boast about the basic electronic component they have bought: dac, speakers, amplifiers etc...

I own good component also but i discover that never mind the components, the embeddings controls ONLY are the key to audiophile top experience.... No audio component can reach his potential higher S.Q. anyway without these embeddings controls grids....Even one million dollars one....

Upgrading urges, before embedding rightfully what we have, result from advertisement myth and tactic and illusion...

These last remark is the reason for all my thread and rants against some general opinions.....

Update:

I will call "Golden Resonators" my connected 2 "golden plates" with 9 Herkimer Diamond sticks on them glued to my ceiling...They are cabled to my Shumann grid generators...


Final results after 2 days of listening are fabulous for imaging and all other counts.... An improvement in the acoustical embedding across the scale, especially an increase in depth imaging...In regular and nearfield position...Each steps on the last 2 years has been a step to a better S.Q. each time proving incrementally to me the necessity of the embeddings controls....

After my application of a fine-tuned differential compressing force on the 2 sets of 4 boxes springs on each speaker under their damping load, my mechanical embedding is very good on the isolation count and on the resonance count....

I think that with these perhaps not optimal but at least minimal embeddings controls my audio system is working on another level from his point of departure.... My goal is achieved...


My most important discovery seems to be the "Golden plates" that i use for 2 embeddings, the electrical grid and the acoustical dimension...

Remember that my acoustical embedding controls are not a "tweak" they are all connected by cables in a singular entity through my modified Schumann generators grid....

A "tweak" is a secondary addition to an audio system, my embeddings controls are the soul of my audio system, without them i would think that my audio system is perhaps not trash but under par to most hi-fi one....I dont think that at all now....It is not the best for sure that money can afford, but trust me it is enough to listen to music and forget sound limitations on any musical style , even Bruckner Symphonies...

Acoustician dont use that kind of controls in a small room, generally they advocate passive room treatment, or bass treatment or to begins with "the bass problem" and will regard me "nut" to do otherwise and to do anything like the crazy experiments i was working with....Especially if they sell something.... :)

But anyway acoustic is a far more complex field that most think it is, even for some acoustician hypnotized by linear computerized equations....Our ears, especially the biased one so to speak, cannot be reduced to simple formulas for the times being... :)


But anyway the results are there: No comparison between the same speakers, dac, and amplifier, after the implementation of the embeddings controls and after....

To this day my humble 500 dollars system is the best i listen to, even with my actual speakers that are good but not on the same level than my past bigger Tannoys Dual concentric Gold....But an embed audio system is most of the times better or on a par with many costlier one...

Upgrading is an obsessive illusion, most of the times unnecessary, especially if the audio system has never been rightfully embed...

My journey touch the end....

My wife smile saying that i lie, she wait for a new idea coming from his nut husband....But she is happy that i never spend the 15 thousand dollars i dreamed to spend for audio 7 years ago anticipating my retirement....It is no more useful .... :)

Music is music when you have it at last....

My new acoustical control device:

2 small Copper bowls+H.D. cabled to the Schumann Generators grid

(buddhist offering copper bowls paid a few bucks)


The 2 bowls, which had the dimension of an open palm of the hand, are located almost straight up to my ears under the ceiling, and they are connected one with the other and also directly to the 2 "golden resonators" in the center of the ceiling, connected also directly to the "Bell of bells" and like i said connected to the S.G. grid also directly...

These interconnections are very important to keep all that balanced and makes of all my "tweaks" not "tweaks" but really only ONE acoustical device control in the singular and not a sum of disparate elements...

Acoustics is not only about absorbing, reflecting, or diffusing materials, but also about putting in place an "atmospheric"  active control of the room through my active Schumann generators grid modified with "golden plates"+H.D. on each one (12 cheap chinese S.G. now )which i called the stones grid, the many resonators grids(different size and shapes), creating then ONE control device that balance all frequencies with their spectral content through an active control which is also a tagging, a kind of beacons grid, that regulate the information that the flowing waves gives to the ears....I am not a scientist anyway, i only want to understand what i create for myself that transform my audio system for a very ordinary S.Q. to another totally new S.Q. and better one at peanuts costs ...

These 2 connected copper bowl with an herkimer diamond in their center for balance produce powerful effect, audible in timbre perception and imaging at my 2 listenings position, nearfield or regular one....


I even not dreamed a month ago that i will go toward thiskind of improvement....It seems that more it is interconnected, more varied the resonators are, more the spectral content of the reflected waves of sound and the direct waves of sound are synchronised and gives me a spectacular more natural image and timbre...

Calling that a " tweak" is totally beside the point, it is not a relatively efficient SECONDARY"addition" to the audio system; it is a new way to recreate completely and reconfigure the acoustic of a small room , it is a PRIMARY fundamental tool for me without which my good system, without these acoustical, mechanical and electrical controls, is like a "trash" or some frustrating system waiting to be replace or "upgraded"....

I am very proud of my listenings experiments because no one anywhere has ever use that kind of tools it seems not at this level of improvement and at this low costs at least....

In audio experience, listenings experiments are more useful than money it seems for me at least.....


In this crumbling "old world" music help me a lot to keep my health and sanity....

One is added in the middle of the pair upper my ears, and 2 one feet from the wall at the right and at the left of the 2 "golden resonators" in the middle of the room on the ceiling...


Increase in bass, and in dynamic ....In the 2 listening position...

Sometimes i ask myself is it some place to new improvement?

I know that i reach some plateau, or will reach it, my speakers has their own limited potential S.Q.

It seems that i was not there yesterday.... Perhaps i am here today?

I listen to my therapeutic sound cd a lot.....A great audio system is very helping on that count alone....

If not, Bach is always free therapeutic by himself.....
A remark:

My last addition, the 9 copper bowls plate, even if located on the wall in front of the speakers behind my listening regular position( 9 feet from the speakers)AFFECT the S.Q. even in nearfield position(3 feet from the speakers)...

Then the widely held opinion that nearfield listening make unnecessary any acoustical treatment nor any active acoustical control is only that : a myth or a deceptive opinion....In a small room the acoustical embedding controls and treatment is more than important....

I devise a wooden box with 9 cellular enclosure where i put 9 copper bowls+one herkimer diamond in the center of each for balance in the sound....

I put that between the speakers behind my listening position, on the wall, 2 feet from the ceiling...

Increase on all audible count: better dynamic, better timbre.....

I listen to my favorite brass ensemble, very good recording and very difficult for any audio system with non only trumpets but horn and tuba....(Empire Brass ensemble: music from  Gabrieli )

And from my 16 feet square wall come a wall of sound like i was used to but with more timbre details and more living sound....

Samething with the piano that was in my room like usual but with way more dynamic all across frequencies and a better timbre....


I was surprized but only half surprized.... :)

Surprized because i already had a more than good S.Q. but not completely surprized because these resonating copper bowls +herkimer diamond are magical.... I already had 5 separate one on my ceiling connected by cables to my Shumann generator grid with great success...

Cost: peanuts....

Results: audibly astounding.....

Any audible positive result is astounding especially at low cost...

DONT UPGRADE, if not absolutely necessary, EMBED IT ALL BEFORE ANY MOVE.....

Better high frequencies and imaging definitively and not only better timbre rendering....

Probably, but i don’t dare say it’s over now....

The only thing i can do next is to connect it to the Schumann generators grid tomorrow probably.... We will see....

Acoustical embeddings devices control are very powerful....

My 500 dollars system will now kick ass of much more costly one.....Even if the system i compare mine to is way more costlier, even if this system is better in some S.Q. aspects, it will not be so much better in relation to my ridiculously low price to impress me at all.... My ratio quality/price / S.Q. is over the roof.....

The diminishing return point is not where you think it is at all when your system is rightfully embedded....

The main problem in audio is not purchasing an electronic component, it is the way to embed it.....

The 9 copper bowls resonators plate is connected now...

I connected it with a thin copper phone cable to the Schumann generators grid.... I use a tiny "golden plate" with tourmaline and a micro Herkimer diamond which was already on top of the S.G. and connected it with copper tape to glue the cable to the 9 copper bowls plate.... "Et voilà ! "

Remember that most of my devices controls for the acoustic embedding are really all connected like a SINGULAR grid.... That increase very much the power to transform the sound for the best on ALL counts....This new connection is no exception and increase the positive effects of this last plate addition to my grid....

I feel pity for many of you who will throw their money to costly electronic new supposedly superior components.... They are superior sometimes indeed because of the progress of engineering.... But for most of us with system under 25 thousand dollars, the embedding process and controls is way more powerful for the S.Q. than the upgrading of one or even 2 components barring the fact that the past components we owned would give only a not so good performance already, but anyway waiting before upgrading is the golden rule...

The reason is simple, good speakers are good speakers whatever the price, good amplifier are good amplifier whatever the price.... Embed them rightfully and their S.Q. will skyrocket on another level....And most upgrading will appear side-grade only....

I hope to be helpful to a few souls here ....I am perfectly conscious that most people dont have a clue about the 3 embeddings even pro reviewers.... Those which are in audio to sell are not here to educate people about how to keep their money, but mostly they are of good faith with good reasons also like new engineering great products.... But my experience is contrary to most of them about this upgrade myth.....

Audiophile experience dont need big money first and last at all, but ears connected to a brain.... i called that listenings experiments....

Is there better than better? Yes! a little more better.... :)

The audible end result with no negative trade-off on a any aspects of the S.Q. is a more dynamical, living, holographic sound, completely detached from the speakers and waving in all my room when listening in regular position...In nearfield an increase also particularly of the best natural imaging possible and a better timbre perception...


The reader of my post must realize that my main active acoustic device control is a connected grid consisting of 3 integrated different grids: a grid of stones, mainly composed of mini "golden plates" (shungite +copper tape on a side with herkimer diamond and sometimes tourmaline) and a grid of 12 Schumann generators connected also to a grid of copper resonators of different size....Then 3 grids intergrated in ONE around all the walls and ceiling of my audio room...

Then my main active acoustical device, except for reflective, absorbent materials and diffusive devices which are the usual passive acoustical treatment, is ONE grid encompassing all the other 3 grids with cables....

After my 2 years of intensive listening experiments i can affirm that almost NO UPGRADE of an electronic component can rival the transformative effect of just the rightful acoustical embeddings....Nevermind the other 2 rightful embeddings....If we add the 3 embeddings any audio system reach a new level, then no more need to upgrade at all most of the times....

Conclusion: Dont upgrade before embedding them all... Or pay the costly price of ignorance born from the marketting hype contagious disease.... :)

Simple: when the pianist seems to be in the room why upgrading? When piano notes are there with a clear distict timbre and tone why upgrading?

Understand me right tough: a good upgrade is always an interesting experience , and for me also, if we can invest the necessary money, but when you have it right already like i have it now, you dont think about upgrading like i was thinking 7 years ago about a lifeline in the sea of my unsatisfaction....  :)

I added 2 cabled new connections to the last 3 one to the S.G. grid...

The result is a more refine audible effect encompassing all S.Q. aspects...

I proove for myself now that passive materials acoustic treatment take charge of the acoustical CONTENT of a room and secondarily of the geometric aspect of the room....
But active acoustical control take charge more of the GEOMETRY of the room and only secondarily of the acoustical content...

( acoustical content is the acoustical properties of the different elements in the room and the materials constituting the room itself, and the geometry of the room is the constraints linked to his particular dimensions and topology)

The passive treatment and the active control work one with another complementarily....

Remember what i call active control is not an electronical device control or a computerized one but an integrated grid of 3 sub-grids connected by cables: a grid of stones, a grid of resonators and a grid of S.G.

You dont need money to upgrade if your basic system is well choosen and good, you neeed to EMBED it in his mechanical, electrical and acoustical working dimensions......

For the last 2 days i made no change, no addition apparently; except however yesterday a small one, very small indeed, i changed the transparent regular scotch tape which was gluing one cable connection from my " bell of bells" to the main Schumann generator of my grid, i changed it for a copper tape, like on all my other S.G. and i changed that because i added 2 days ago a new cable connection from the " 9 copper bowls plate" to this main S.G. and the copper tape is better for keeping in place the 2 cables ends together....


My God! this small minor change was astounding with an increased clarity....


Why?


Because when your audio system is so refined already and rightfully embedded a small change may produce an incredible improvement.... Really i was amazed.... Scotch regular tape versus a few centimer of copper tape..... Even me i was waiting for no audible strong improvement at all.... Imagine my surprize.....


Dear invisible ghosts, friends, and others unknown readers; notice and remember that, ANY modification may begin to be audible in a rightfully embed system and in fact a minor one it seems can reveal an increase of S.Q. out of the world to your ears.... I say that because the improvement was on par with my last devices creation....

I wrote that for the benefit of some of you..... I did not believe it myself at first but it is like it is....Believe it or not....


My road will reach soon his end journey, and i will never probably upgrade any component because what i had now is too good to change it and i will need a LOT of money to do so.....But i dont give a dam for even my dreamed Berning amplifier to beat my Sansui, or the Harbeth speakers to beat my Mission Cyrus, or to the Denafrips top dac to beat my French battery Nos dac :)

I dont give a dam not because i would not do it if i could, but it is only a dream now, no more an urgent necessity at all, and i am afraid, if i did it,  to be disappointed by the diminishing return law.....

The piano dont comes from my speakers now, the piano is in my room, then..... :)

Dont upgrade anything before embedding it rightfully.....

My thread was sleeping for the last month, but my imagination was not completelt in sleep mode....

I add some rectangular and triangle piece of cardboard covered with aluminium paper to 2 corners of my ceiling room in diagonal opposition, one of my speakers near one of this corner....


Cost: one peanuts or 2...

Acoustic material treatment improvement: very audible increase if the refinement of the higher frequencies in particular...the imaging is increasingly stellar one change after the other.... This addition is no exception....

If your room is too bright adding thick pieces of old rug to the cardbord will do better....


Trust me speakers hate the 4 empty corners of any room....Treating 2 for me was enough to be in heaven one times more....

Am i the only one who play with the waves and do miracles for peanuts?

I just add a third corner treatment....With a rectanchle of hard cardboard and one triangle shaped cover with aluminium paper....

It is astounding...

My test cd is some violin concertos of Vivaldi played by the miraculous Belgian violonist Arthur Grumiaux...

His main tone deliver a living light waves that fill the eyes by passing trough the ears, not only in this Vivaldi but in Mozart Quintet or Bach violin concertos cd....

My treatment of 3 corners makes it more audible than ever.... I am in love for the last 45 years with Grumiaux.... Some are greatest virtuoso, like Heifetz, none exsude color shades and hues of sunlike heat like him....

I am very sad that the King of Belgium dont mandated him by special order or law to record all Vivaldi....

It is a pity.....

Dear friend remember this: Any speakers better he is and stronger it become, the room is always stronger....

The speakers are like a sleeping princess kissed one day by his powerful knight: the room after be treated acoustically...

If you room has no acoustical treament and embedding controls, you will never know what your speakers are really able to deliver....You speakers will stay quiet like a young girl eternally sad and which has never fall in love.....

On the five corners in my room now the fourth have been treated by rectangular aluminium covered cardboard plate and a triangular one, forming on the corner a kind of half pyramid......


I was not dreaming one month ago about another increase in quality so much audible.... I was really thinking that my embedding journey was over now....I was just listening music not the sound....

What a mistake....

I read 30 years ago about the particular effect of shape on the quality of the energy field.... Corner was not the best place for positive energy.... The great Austrian architect Rudolf Steiner was also replacing often corners in his design by regular or irregular undulating  polyedral shape...

A bit of cardboard and aluminium paper, a bit of transparent tape.... All was done....

Someone just said to me that you can tweak a turntable but not a dac....It is ridiculous .... 😎

Most people are unconscious of the fact that ANY electronic component is a GENERIC design which will contribute to the final S.Q ONLY by a SPECIFIC installation in the three controlled embeddings, nevermind the fact that it is a turntable or a dac...And embeddings controls are not disparate tweaks...But it is another story i already adressed... 😏🧐

NO generic design can sound the same in different specific environment....It is precisely the reason why all reviews are anecdotes and not facts...

What is significative with reviews is their numbers statistics, negative or/and positive, not the details of each one....

I bought my Sansui AU 7700 because there is not one negative review in 50 years... Try and look for one.....😛

Except for the very rich people who can afford to enroll an acoustician, and an electrician and a mechanical engineer, and buy the best costly engineered gear; it is not money that will give to most of us audiophile experience, it is the rightfull controls of the three embeddings, and that can cost peanuts but you need ears and brain....

Money is finally not so useful or indispensable in audio, except for those who dont use their brain....😊

Food for tought:


Among my hundred( around 120 cables connections) connections, between my resonators grids , diffusors, Schuman generators grid, sometimes a cable(they are very thin and glued by copper adhesive tape often) detach itself by accident and i cannot know it on the spot...

Today this 4 connections, 2 between my diffusors grid and 2 in my resonators grid connected to the central"Bell of bells" (36 little resonators with H.D. on a bigger bell) spontaneously disconnect themselves....

I did not know why nor when this happened in the last night ...

I was listening some piano, a cd of Bach by Feltsman i know by heart, and i was disapointed by the sound, by a lack of transparency, the image was correct, but i has sense a veil that was not there few days ago...

I stood up and inspect my connections, i spot the problem rapidly ...

Conclusion:

All These connections were made few at a times, incrementally in the last 2 years, each one added something positive, sometimes very subtle....

When i look at all these cables i think that perhaps i am nut....Like my wife think....

But the proof is there, each time i lost to much connections (this already happened a few times the audible🤔) the resultant effect is disastrous; the level of loss is dependent of the connection itself, the Schumann Generators being the most important central grid of all these grids then the most important connections, but all others also are valuable from the first day that i decide to introduce them until today....

I am nut but i am proud to have been able to create my paradise, at peanuts cost i remind you of that....😋

not homemade, not at a peanut cost like most of my own creations all along this thread but it is working... 😀

I hesitated a bit to comunicate that because i am proud of my creativity and to this day i improvised my embeddings controls all by myself with no branded name product addition....I modified the Shumann generators even if i bought them ready made....This new product i will not touch it tough....I only imagined for it an unknown use to the inventor’s brain....

I bought it first like a portable antivirus device that can add protection to the mask in close waiting room; i was trustful because this device has been certified to works officially by Pasteur Institute in a joint venture between the private sector and the Institute it seems......

BUT ionizing the air of a room stick a bell in my head of audiophile....This may work good for asthma but also to the hearing apparatus and do well with the room atmosphere indeed...

I add it to my audio room, and guess what?

Audible modification of the closed atmosphere by ionization make the sound to be more easily perceptible , each colored tone and timbre dynamic being more refine....At nearfield and at regular distance....the device is able to treat a small room...

Then i must give to you the good news, something that repell the mosquitoes because they smell you no more, that makes virus falls on the floor instead of surfing in the air , and a device that transforn the acoustical settings of the room for 100 US dollars is low cost.... After many hours of listening i know how to describe the audible effect of the moskitofree device...

Simple indeed,  the decay process of any tone is way longer and richer giving new space to the imaging bubble of each instrument without separating them  and a refinement to the timbre...

I pinch myself to verify if i was dreaming...It is impossible to stop listening...

It is amazing  the way a triple embeddings rightly controls rooms make any change a crystal clear experience and make a so powerful upgrade...

But this time it must be the end of the road for me now.....

Ecstasy cannot erase ecstasy and rewrite it, except perhaps in heaven....

But wait a minute, it is precisely what my embeddings controls made possible each time but without erasing the last ecstasy, more like superposing one ecstasy on the last one making it more deeper....

My audio system reach top level for me in the last night...I have sleep very few hours....😏

I just realized that my new moskitofree device was working marvellously increasing the S.Q. very audibly by adding a better processed decay to any tone and sound... Giving them more air around to breath ...But...

An idea comes to my mind about the right way to use it by placing it above one of my 3 himalayan salt lamps... I have three, one near my speakers and 2 under my desk, the speakers being on my desk....These lamp ionized slightly the air, and believe it or not they have an audible effect, exactly like the moskitofree device but way less powerful, anyway an audible effect...I bought them for that few years ago...

I dont believe in anything, i experience in my mind or experiment...Dont believe in God just experience with God in your mind, a thinking experience like Einstein imagining himself flying with the light and you will sense an effect, then go on ith this effect and look where it takes you....Anyway....😎

Then last night i decided to make an experiment by suspending the moskitofree device above the salt lamp. beside my right speakers... The idea is to make the cold plasma produced by the device, or ionized gas produced by the moskitoe device to work near the salt lamp and then helping the lamp work on his own and using the salt to liberate more ions in the air...

That work great! So much, than the audible effect appear to be on par or perhaps greater than my 12 connected Shumann generators together...But you will have a powerful effect without any lamp also...A bit less tough...But anyway a remarkable one...

I cannot fathom without being amazed the subtle but very audible transformation of the perceived aura of sound....I could not sleep....

With any sound system you live with, you develop an habit, and you dont perceive immediately the unnaturalness of the sound directly, you perceive instead in an incremental way each changes and each increase in S.Q. seems the end of the road or appear like a place to rest... And you think, now i have it, at last, this natural timbre perception... And you have it yes, but not completely and you dont know it yet, but you think about the last time when you have change your embeddings controls reaching another another better level...

It was the same thing last night, i have reach a complete new level in timbre naturalness and the sound now breathe in space in my entire room...

Ok i was thinking that it was my end road limit.... How can i improve it? it seems impossible and i am so happy i dont give a dam i prefered to immerse myself in music...today i dont give a dam either and music is enough...


This is one of my meditation music,very powerful...

This is a difficult file to be played rightly or optimally on any audio system....If your audio system is not at his optimal level you will guess it with this file annoying sound....On top system this music is divine tough...

2 Voices with a circle of firing tuning forks at different frequencies with very subtle circle of chimes above that... Your system is good if you listen to that without any fatiguing harshness, with a FLOWING waves caressing you all around you and filing the room in a kind of whirlwind...

With all my 2 years listenings experiments my goal was , between many others, a perfect rendition of this file...

First the effect is at the same time very audible and very subtle....

Very audible and very subtle?

How to reconcile these seeming 2 contradictory points?


Simple, think about each musical sound like a consonant with a vowel, think like if each musical tone was a syllable, the vowel being the decay of the main tone-consonant in my metaphor...Then each musical sound is spoken more clearly...Very audibly and very subtly...

Then the effect of my new device is a better articulation between the tone and his decay...This is very audible trust me...But subtle indeed...

But why is it subtle?

It is subtle because you will miss very much the greater part of this great improvement if you begins by this acoustical control device first, for your first or second or even third acoustical installation control...

All along my thread there is a progression between my experiments...

You cannot put a "golden" plate for example on the external electrical station of your house and wait for a big change...
There will be one but not only subtle but perhaps almost inaudible in an acoustically non controlled and non treated room, with a noisy not enough or adequately mechanically controlled speakers and audio system....

All improvement linked to an installation device produce a change sometimes big one, that will be evaluated very differently in some not enough controlled system/house/  versus some room and a house perfectly controlled...I dont even speak about the hearing limitation of the inexperimented ears of the beginners and their lack of confidence in their own power to sense...

I say that because superficial mind will judge superficially without even thinking about the object being judged...And will not be able to critically assess the limitation of their own system before criticizing others... It is human nature... 😁😊

Especially in audio where most people dont trust their own ears, have never learned by experiments and dedication how to listen to sound and music and are in the habit to pay for gaining and keeping the conviction (placebo+influence of the condioned market) that their audio system will improve even if they are not sure and completely satisfied but because some reviewers has said so...

Then dont stumble in this thread , trying my new device, and posting after that: "Nope, this is an illusion it did nothing at all, this dude is nut; this inozer is very subtle indeed i dont even know if i hear something or not 😫😆"


The ionizer work for me after 2 years of incremental improvements... And the only thing that would have replace it perhaps would have been the change of my low cost Sansui for my dreamed Berning ZOTL amplifier... But the staggering difference in price is not very attractive... Especially after this ionozer installation... Do you understand now why i always say: Dont upgrade something, go on instead for a rightful embedding of everything, especially if your audio system is already relatively good... And my Sansui was so good and better today, thanks to the ionizer device,  than my purchase of a Berning zotl will wait, perhaps till the end of the world, as powerful my set of  embeddings controls are now... 😌😊

Update about all these devices and improvement...


I discovered all of them with great listenings feed back sessions and luck...

I dont know which one is better in an absolute measurable sense of the word, save for my listenings impression...

Then i dont know which will be the better for you to begin with in your own noisy House/room/system...

But anyone who will judge hastily them without really trying some in some way will make an error....

My last device is a luck incident, i bought this ionizer for killing the viruses not for audio, but i remembered myself some fact about ionization and audio then it was it , the improvement is amazing....

Like i said in a normal, non rightly embedded, more noisier system than the actual mine, i dont know which % of the positive effect will be audible by you.... Then eliminate the vibrations of your speakers and gear first, put the "golden plate" all along the electrical grid at stategic location.... Treat acoustically your room, try some modified cheap Schumann Generators.... After that try the ionizer....

Short update:

My ionizer is really amazing....







It is not so much the Electronical design of this or that " Branded name" product which will give you an audiophile experience; at first and at last it will be the breathing synchonized waves in the acoustical space of your room.... Nothing else, nor a new cable, a new dac or a new amplifier, and most of the times even not a new pair of speakers will do it satisfyingly....

This "breathing sychonized waves" is an event coming from what i called, passive materials treatment of the room +active Controls of the acoustical embeddings...

Add the other 2, the mechanical embeddings and the electrical grid embeddings of the audio system and of the house and NO upgrade of one of your electronic component can rival and beat the rightful embeddings controls of these 3 dimensions... NONE....

This is the only one truth i experienced and experimented with....

I will let their upgrading process to sellers and buyers...

Second short UPDATE about the ionizer...

Not only timbre decay is better but really the imaging. where each instrument if connected together reveal an acoustical atmosphere of their own, each one in his own aural glowing presence, the imaging flow in my room way more detailed and cohesive... Spectacular more refine in nearfield and on his own more dynamical  way in regular position... I cannot chose between the 2 postions like always, nevermind the files....

This is really more than icing on my acoustical embeddings controls cake...

This is impossible for me now to take off the ionizer....

I use a brick with holes in them for supporting copper/zinc standard plumbers pipes...

The diameter of the pipe are: 1 centimer and 1/2

The 3 pipes have respectively 2 feet , 3 feet and 5 feet lenght....It is the Fibonacci  golden mean ratio between the 3...

The effect was amazing and very noticeable on all counts...

A more optimal results could be obtained but i dont have the different diameter to try against different lenght...

These are standard plumber pipes...

Anyway the result is more than good....

In the last 2 weeks i improved a situation that i think was already good...

We have been brainwashed by reviewers of electronic component in Audio... 😁

The embeddings controls is the road..... Upgrades are at "some" point very silly or not so useful  act.....

Keep your  good audio system and try to embed it rightfully first .....

I am very excited....

I just finish to install my second set...

Just a new brick with holes where i posit 3 other copper plumber pipes with same diameter than the other 3 series BUT,

With new ratio lenght/diameter: respectively 12 inches, first pipe, and 20 inches, and 32 inches.... A golden ratio also but with another set of frequencies cleaning scope....

Results:

With the 2 sets not straight in front of my speakers, but laterally located, Amazing ....Better focussing of all frequencies range then all tone cleaner....Better timbre and better imaging in my 2 positions of listening....

Thanks to our fellow audiogoner audiotweak that suggest me the Argent " room lens" 3 set of 3 big tubes 6 or 7 feet high, open, with all the same lenght....... I tried first bigger plumber tubes ressembling this produc but with unequal lenght, one 8 feet, the others 5 feet, 2 feet...But my results were better closing the superior aperture and inserting a straw, more like in a real Helmholtz bottles...The results here also were very good... But not having a 3 feet tube was probably handicaping my results.... I cannot use the Fibonacci numbers ratio here...

Anyway i could with the thinner 2 set of three pipes.... 😁

What is more rewarding: buying a new amplifier, the Berning ZOTL of my dream or creating my own new device, the Helmholtz-Fibonacci silent organ, my own room tuner.... Guess which?

i can affirm to you that the upgrading effect is very strong and i dont recognize my favorite files for another the Nth times in the last 2 years...

Dont throw money, think, try, listen and enjoy....

Dont listen to people with highly costly system, they will never believe you that some plumber pipes can give what some many thousand electronic new upgrade can usually give....

I forgot to say in my excitement that my pipes are what i take from my basement in the state where they are...

For an optimal working i would be in the obligation to cut them to a very precise ratio of lenght as that in the fibonacci ratio....Which they are not now....

But i give you the idea...

It work amazingly good as it is with in eac case the longer being the sum of the other 2, i dont doubt that with the right ratio between all of them, they will do a greater  miracle in tuning the room...

I will add a third set of 2....My last three pipes with the same relation between them.....

A more precise ratio between pipes is of fundamental importance... A+B/A=A/B=1.618

2 inches less or 2 inches more on only one pipe alter the sound very greatly a very clear focus but with not enough meat on the tone bone so to speak with the 5 inches pipe, then i switch to the 7 unches with great improvement.... This third set is less well adjust toward the golden ratio tough....It work very well tough, i will adjust that in the weeks to come....



I add a third brick with a set of 23 inches and 14 inches and 7 inches....Not enough near the golden ratio but anyway, way more better than the previous 5 inches... The difference between 7 and 5 inches in this set was astounding.... 😊

The other 2 sets has their 3 lenght more near the golden ratio, this one not enough.... But anyway this third set work another level of refinement all across frequencies....

I locate it behind my head in my regular listening position....

This H.F.S.O. is my best best discovery with the "golden plates" and the modified Schuman Generators grid.....

Oufff what a day in music and audio.....

I almost woke up  my wife going in the basement in a hurry...

I sawed one of  the pipe of the third set to improve the set  by being near of the area of the golden ratio...

A good thing, listening the same files in a few second all was better, at the same times the sound was  more focussed in all frequencies but without loss this time in the "meat" around the " bone" of  each tone ....

Greater pipe: 23 inches 1/2, the second one near 14 inches, the last pipe around nine inches.... BINGO!.....

Third set completed and i go back to the music....

From China, low cost and very efficient... Low noise level and ozone emission tough this time, it is not the same design of the french silent, ozone-free Moskitoefree....But the french company is assailled by asking consumers and cannot deliver anymore in America...(Moskitoefree repell moskitoes,pull down viruses to the ground, and ionized the room for 100 bucks !) i was sad but,

BUT the  sound result are the same, and i put it where in my room the very low noise level is inaudible...the  silent Moskitoesfree is over my desk between the speakers....


The effect of the Chinese ionizer are the same than the Moskitoefree at least and perhaps more powerful because bigger battery, and 20% of his cost....Peanuts.... Design is aluminum and sturdy....



Audible effects are perfectly audible in high frequencies perception and on imaging.... No doudts at all.... It is not placebo.... I listened to test it some very difficult files ....

This addition of ionizer are amazing.... I cannot live without them now.....

In my 2 postions of listening the effect is the same in imaging, high frequencies and an impression of an increase in soudstage....For 20 bucks....

Dont trust the market, dont trust the reviewers, dont trust anyone save you ears and creativity...

I confirm the extraordinary effects on the better "timbre" perception by a liberation of the higher frequencies from their captivities in my room...

The Schumann generators grid did that to some degree, the French ionizer too, but this Chinese one is more powerful at least on par with them...

The files of lute i listen to now reach another level in the harmonic perception, and the silkier violin in Vivaldi resemble more of an addiction than ever....


In a word: an icing of the cake yes, but way more, because we never know what we are lacking in audio experience before experiencing it first.....

I said that the chinese ionizer affect first the higher frequencies, and it is right...

But there is more than that, the bass notes of a pianio for example are way more clean and more detailed also...It is like upgrading my Sansui to a new amplifier.... 😛 Very strong audible effects across the frequencies with a more 3-D holographic imaging at the 2 positions, nearfield and more regular one....

This is amazing for 20 bucks..... I order another one, hoping to assign the very good and more costlier Moskitofree for the most important job for which it was first designed ,putting down the viruses on the ground.... The model i have is the one with a necklace useful when we take a bus, when we go to the grocery, or when we wait in a closed location....


I listened to my system which for his low price is one of the best there is no doubt.....🤑

500 bucks is all is needed to smile listening music, and laugh at the idea of ANY upgrade at any cost...

I dreamed to buy a Berning ZOTL amplifier, and the Harbeth speakers, but at 10,000 bucks it will probably stay a dream.... But no frustration anymore about that for a longtime now, only the proudness associated with my ratio : low price system/ high quality sound.... 😊😉😎

But i dont give a dam about it, i dont use it in a car and for the listening of music it is better without battery....

Remember that my acoustical controls are good already and i can listen the difference between 2 changing  locations of the ionizer in my room  immediately....

A simple thougth about acoustic and a simple experiment:


Simple thought:

A sound wave  with a speed of 343 meters per second cross my room of 3.9 meter, 88 times each second....Many times then each fraction of second ...


Imagine your room like a very tense string on a violin, the slightest change make it vibrate differently.... Your room acoustic space is like a tense string indeed.....The physician Helmholtz is the real father of room acoustic....



Simple experiment:


I change the diameter of the straw on my Helmholtz bigger tube(8 feet high) in my 9 foot high room...From a big straw for sloosh beverage 1/4 inches lenght to a regular straw one of lenght 1/4 inches lenght also....


Stupendous impact in bass and mid bass....The full tuba note around 35 hertz coming alive completely from my 7 inches bass driver....A miracle, listening the Empire Brass Gabrielli cd....All frequencies over bass better...


I communicate that to reveal the powerful impact of an apparent insignificant change that transform ALL the acoustical frequencies presentation...

Think about that 1/4 inches of a straw transforming all the acoustic of a room... Think about it! 😁😊😎😋

I already has known that myself by listening experiments but most people are so ignorant of that, they are ready to pay 100,000 bucks for a new amplifier that will have an another completely but similar powerful impact....

Very important UPDATE about my 3 Helmholtz tubes and about my Helmholtz-Fibonacci room tuner....


I tried straws with 3 dimensions, the better one for the Big Helmholtz PVC plumber tube (8 feet) were regular  straw for the bigger tube and  2 regular straws reduced to half of their normal diameter  on the other 2 smaller tubes.... The opening is closed with plastic cellophane stressed around the mouth of the tube with elastics... These tubes are plumber tubes with few inches diameter....


Results more clarity and astounding difference between the experiments with different diameters of the 1 /2 inches lenght straws...

For the Helmholtz-Fibonacci room tuner i wrapped the mouth of this thin plumber copper pipe with cellophane and elastic and the best results were with a thin hole pierced to the plastic sheet with a toothpick.... Fine tuning of high end audio indeed.... 😁


All this look insignificant and without great consequences at first sight and for the normal reader....Nothing is further from the truth, the impact is amazing and very powerful...

WHY ?

Because if you read the physics about the Helmholtz bottles you will learn how precise is the relation between the volume of the bottle and the lenght of the neck and his diameter linked to the frequency spectrum.... It is critical... When we are near the optimal numbers the impact is huge.... Like changing the amplifier...

My Helmholtz-Fibonacci room tuner is made with 3 sets of 3 pipes which lenght are near the golden ration, then they work all along a set of frequencies in synergetical effect...None of these 9 tubes has the same volume and lenght....

I am flabbergasted by the incommensurate effect  that reducing the diameter of a straw or pinning a hole with a toothpick in a plastic sheet can engender and produce a new level of S.Q.

Audio is fun, cost peanuts, and is akin to paradise...

Dont upgrade anything, listen, think, and embed everything....
Second UPDATE about my 3 Helmholtz tubes and about my Helmholtz-Fibonacci room tuner....




I made some experiment with a few Helmholtz pipes and tubes... I add one directly in front of my speakers 3/4 inches diameter, 3feet 3 inches high....The bass in the room suddenly bloom more and i never enjoy so good bass ever... The room first node is around 43 hertz, my speakers dont go under 45 hertz, and i enjoy now more of the very clear 45 hertz and the upper bass frequencies...

Some miracle happen when i decided to glue a straw on the plastic sheet closing the mouth if this tube centering this straw on the toothpick hole made on it....WOW! It was like 2 helmholtz tubes glued together , the straw is on top of the pipe....

Better imaging and better clarity....


ONE STRAW can change completely the sound of a room.... Think about that.....

WHY?

Because the air in the room is a pressurized heteregeneous complex distribution of springs cells acting on the waves and the Helmholtz tubes are pressurized engines that are able to make the room an ACTIVE participant in the sound perception and no more a boucing sets of passive walls... The S.G. also and the ionizer modify the array of air molecules that act like springs for the waves.... Remember that the waves cross a small room near hundred times each second, in my case 80 times each second....Then the air is like strings of violin under compression...

Acousticians who sells acoustic materials sells you half of the solution only....The passive materials treatment...

The other half are less easy to install and organize like passive acoustic materials can be but they are what make the room an ACTIVATED  part of the sound perception synchronized with the speakers : my grid of S.G. and especially the Helmholtz pipes and tubes grid  with the ionizers....


The room is now active like the speakers are for the creation of the sound experience....ANY small room on par with the speakers are the SOURCE of the sound experience....

Presenting the room like passive walls to be treated is NOT acoustic science it is marketing of easy to install ready made solutions for the acoustic company....

It is my conclusion after this powerful S.Q. increase with ONE straw.....

For sure the mathematical formula to calculate the set of frequencies affected by a particular H. bottle or tube use the neck length and diameter in a crucial way... But this formula was no more an abstraction for me but suddenly a powerful audible modified sound in my experiment, a living experience.....

Like usual the improved S.Q. is sensible and audible in my 2 listening positions, nearfield and the more regular one.....

What i can say?

The relation between the volume of the bottle or of the pipes and tubes to the neck volume and diameter is the KEY....The equation said so.... But listening to the equation by experimenting is a true sckocking experience, the equation is no more dead signs on paper, but suddenly a living animal in the room.... This is the power of acoustic....

You must experiment in your own room...Myself i stumble on the right proportion...

No change of dac or amplifier can replace ACOUSTIC control ever and never in audible impact.... 😊 Save for a very bad gear upgrading to an higher level totally.....The acoustical embedding new control is powerful like that...

After this addition of one straw on all devices, eliminating past shorter neck on them, the results were so amazing....

When you listen to an entire orchestra of brass the timbre differences between, tubas, trumpets, trombones, and the french horns cannot lie....

Astounding, this Gabrielli music by the Empire brass ensemble, which i know by heart, was revealed for the first time in all hues and variation of the brass timbre of each instrument....

Orchestral music and the timbre of each instrument is the BEST test for an audio system....On a single instrument piano is....

I cannot exagerate the huge impact of this longer neck addition to my pipes and tubes used like Helmholtz bottles...


My room is now ACTIVATED, and it is no more to the speakers sound only boucing on the passive walls i listen to, but to a pressurized complex set of engines in synchronisation with the speakers...This is what i call the activation of the room, to make understand the enormous difference between a passive room/walls and an activated atmosphere in the room....

Material passive treatment is important, but active controls by Helmholtz principle exceed it in impact because it is with them that the room is fully activated, with the S.G. grid and the 2 ionizers....


This fact is so much underestimated that if we read acoustitian articles about small room controls, they rarely insist on their importance.... In fact they even dont mention it most of the times....

I guess i am more creative than even some pro..... I have all my time for sure, i no longer work..... 😁

Listening to music is for me life or death.....With no money to spend i just discovered the universal lies in audio about costly gear being the MAIN high-quality source of the experience.... It is completely false, embeddings controls are the key, especially the acoustical one....

I replaced the costly moskitoefree french device (i will spare it for waiting rooms in pandemic zones) by a low cost very efficient car ionizer , a second one, because my room is like the space volume of at least 3 cars...

Complete audible success... Even if the french device did not ionize with the same internal mechanism than the more regular 20 bucks chinese device, the chinese device is very good, sturdy, in solid aluminum,low noise, but what it give in S.Q. increase indeed  compensate easily the slight borderline audible DB noise of his internal mechanism....

The one i bought are USB powered... It is more practical than battery powered because they work 12 hours a day in my listening room....I listen music a lot indeed....Even reading.... 😊

For 40 bucks these 2 are very good and i cannot listen music with them "off"....

But if you suffer asthma or respiratory problems, beware, these are ionizer.... Inform yourself before buying...

Another acoustical simple controls for me , and one i could use without modifying it.... But i have a crazy  idea about some addition to it....To be continued later... 😁😊😎😉
Do you prefer listening to music with the ionizers
"on" or "off?" The tradeoff is the enhanced effect
versus the slight internal noise they generate.
The noise is very low and i forget it easily and the improving effect exceed it for me...

Do you notice a difference in SQ when

Yes the difference is at the same times subtle and different from anything else and unmistakable...It is like the music in my near listening position were more definite and the atmosphere of the recording event is better reproduced...Same effect in my regular position but more spectacular in near listening...The effect is like the polish on a copper cup, this is the same cup but more clean now because polished well....

I open them "on" when i listen music and put them "off" if i dont listen...

For 40 bucks for the 2 it is very great addition....
The problem with the ionizer is not for me the sound level which is very low ...

It is some harmful possible effect in the respiratory tract, the sinuses, by long expesition... Especially for sensible person...

For now instead of some little slight sinuses blockage this night i go on with them because i love them.... I will try to use them more sparsely only in deep lmusic listening... i like the audio effect too much.... 😊

And i must think about the explanation... I am not an acoustician and my device work, cost nothing to do, but i must take my time to better understanding why....

The goal is reached when your room acoustical paricularities, beingnow in controls, are no more an impediment to the sound original choices of the recording engineer with his microphones locations and choices in the original live event...

Your room is able to RECREATE in his own particular way the original acoustic atmosphere...

In the beginning of my testing and tuning my room i used piano, hapsichord timbre recording, after that brass and strings orchestra and choral pieces...

But the last tuning was made also with Kurt Weill - Die Dreigroschenoper with Lotte Lenya the version of 1958...

The mic choices in this recording and the way the voices are often coming completely "IN" my ears from right and left or from the back of my head  has revealed to me the accuracy of my final tuning of the mechanical equalizer with pin point imaging, in a large soundstage over the speakers, BUT MAINLY of a " listener envelopment" acoustical factor better than in  all my headphones or at least on par with them but always a better natural living sound...All that with natural timbre, because the original timbre "envelope" perception of the instrument is linked to a better balance in your actual room between all the acoustical cues generating, imaging, soundstage, listener envelopment, apparent source width, etc

I think i am done with acoustical controls now.....

I proved to myself my point about the importance of the controls over the three working embeddings dimensions in any audio systen: mechanical. electrical and acoustical...

Anybody could do better than me but at a much higher cost, at peanuts cost i doubt that someone could improve it a lot.... All my devices are peanut cost modified when bought like the S.G. grid or homemade like my "golden plates" or my mechanical equalizer...






Dont upgrade embed everything reightfully before....
