How would chrome plated brassrods look and sound with the Piano Black/Ice Black Blue finishes?

In the late 70's to early 80's, the Guitar community espoused the use of Brass for the nut, bridge and string ferrules(Think Fender Srtat)because it had a "Bell-like ring" tone. Later, bone was the material of choice.

I went with PB (finally), but i'll drop dead if scratches appear. I'm wondering how much cleaner and how hard i should rub to minimize damage to the finish?
