I've previously owned a 508.24 and 588. Early this year I spent time with both the 808 and G08 while looking for a new digital platform. The sonic difference is night and day. The 808 paints a much more vivid picture than the G08. Width and depth of soundstage is similar but the 808 provides a great deal more information...as it should for $9000 more. Definitely a topflight performer but it demands serious downstream support. The G08 is also an excellent cdp for the $$.
