I have one and am pretty satisfied with it. It sounds pretty good with both CDs and DVDs, but I have not owned any other DVD players so I cannot comment on it's performance vs other players in it's price range. There are a couple of other problems to consider; 1) There are a few different versions of these players, it's hard to find out which one is good and which one is not. They are all based on various Pioneer players. Some even have balanced outputs. So there is no such thing as a standard unit. 2) Serviceability is still questionable. Melos has been changing hands recently and non of the owners offer service on any of previous owners products. I found out about these things after I bought my unit 3 months ago.
