Mcintosh MX-120 HDMI to Samsung UA55B8000 problem

I dont believe I am alone with HDMI issues, but this is driving me nuts. I can not get the MX-120 to connect o the tv with HDMI. The only thing I get is a message saying "Mode not supported" I also tried with and LG tv and same result. HDMI out from the MX-120 is set to Auto changing it to 1080i makes no difference. The tv should be able to receive 1080p,1080i,720p,480p,480i. Are there som other variables in the HDMI that causes the "Mode not supported"?
