McIntosh MC501

Dear All,
I plan to upgrade my MC501 main stock fuse with hifi-tuning fuse.
Has anyone done this before? The outcome?
Can someone please let me know the MC501 fuse size, 20mm or 32mm? Which direction should the fuse be installed/ inserted?
