I have not heard the C8, but I did own a C2300 for a while.
The C2300 has one of the very best phono sections out there and is extremely well-reviewed. If you can find a used one in good shape with box, manual and remote, I'd say go for it. Be advised the remote is not the best; the soft-touch coating does not age well.
