McIntosh Amp

Can anyone out there give me advice on McIntosh MC 162 Stereo power amp. I have a Wadia 850 and Joseph RM22si. How does the Mac sound? Would that fit my system? My local Mac dealer would not let me have a loaner. I can only audition if I bring my gears to them. Any way, I really appreciate any suggestion. Thank you very much.

Your dealer should always let you audition it at home. Don't deal with him if he doesn't.
Good Boy! Wadia's are excellent and I happen to own the big brother to your cd player the 860. I happen to own 2 MCIntosh amps...... but horrors....... they are car stereo amps. Actually they do sound rather similar, not surprising as they are designed in the same place. I find the Wadia really likes the Mc amps, though the sound gets a little lush. I have a set of RS1A Infinitys and they are really convincing inn this combo. I actually tried using the car audio amps with my speakers and found the sound to be superior to my Bryston 4b amps. The fact the McIntosh MC400M 1000 watt amp was battery powered seemed to solve and dirty power issues as well. Good luck!!

Also can you e-mail me the results of your trial as I am interested in the speakers you have and hence would have a near identical system.
