Does the UDP-1 (non deluxe) which is now 5 years old stack up well against a new 2K to 3K player? Or, what about a decent DAC under 1K? Could the UDP-1 be a good transport? I know I should test it all myself, but I can't get a hold of this stuff to borrow.
The measured digital performance of UDP-1 was never better than a $150 Pioneer universal player, and I don't believe it has improved since it was released.
