The 1621A across the board sonicly out performs the older 1621 transport. MBL will not come out with a new generation unless they believe it will out perform the older piece. I own the 1621A and it is a better sounding transport then the 1621. I still think the 1621A is the best sounding redbook CD transport, even better than the great sounding CEC-0X.
