mb quart model 2 tower speakers

if anyone is familiar with these speakers i need some advice. they sound ok on my budget audiophile system but my magnepan mmgs put them to shame. i listen to dire straits and other similar musicians and the open sound and nuances of the mmgs make listening just jaw dropping at times. i know this depends on the quality of recording but i was under the impression that the older mb quarts were a budget/quality performance speaker system. anybody have these? i wonder if 20 year old crossovers need refurbishing? the drivers look to be in good condition. thank you
