Mark Levinson No. 39 act as a preamp?

i just recently purchase a used Mark Levinson No.39 from a local buyer. I don't have a manual for the unit. I heard that the ML 39 can be use as a preamp so that i can plug my scd-1 to my levinson. Is it true that the no.39 can act as a preamp? If so do anyone know how/setting for it?

I believe that the No.39 only accepts digital inputs. So yes, it may be used as a preamp, but only for digital sources. The SCD-1 would only be able to play CD (Redbook)through the No.39, since SACD output is analog.
