Mark Levinson 23.5

Hi,
How does the ML 23.5 compare with the newer generation of ML amps. like the 334? I have an option of buying the 334 or the 23.5. Which one should I go for?

Thanks--Ajit

A 23.5 will give you a great amp at a great price. I used to own a 332 and honestly couldnt tell a sonic difference(under equal conditions including all cabling etc)between the 2. Either way you will get a great amplifier.
For what it's worth, I had a pair of Magnepan Tympani IVa's restored last year.

The person I dealt with at Magnepan told me the 23.5 was the best amp they ever heard on their large panel speaker systems.

I therefore bought one and I love it. For me, it also captures the styling of the golden age of Mark Levinson and high end audio in general.

Personally, I think the newer amps look like space heaters.

Good luck whatever you decide.
AJPAT;

For what it's worth, one of the best systems I ever heard, years ago, consisted of the venerable old Alon IV's driven by all Levinson electronics -- with the 23.5 amp.

Also, I have heard from a couple audiophile buddies that consider the 23.5 to be one of the best amps ever put out by Levinson.
I would like to ask you audiophiles out there I have a pair of Magnepan 2.7 speakers I just purchased. I have a CJ MV125 amplifier with 125 watts per channel, do you think I have enough power for these speakers I am using? Please let me know thanks Marv
