Magnepan Speakers - Ribbon Replacement

Is it true that the ribbons in Magnepan speakers require replacement every few years ? Anyone care to comment ?

I've had a couple sets of Maggies, always bought used, with some quite old...and never had a problem with ribbbons. If you want something to worry about, worry about finding the right amps for them, lol.
