The combo should sound and work very well, but at low to medium volume levels. The 3.7's are not very efficient, but the Ref 75 should have good control over them up to its rated output. It would mostly depend on your listening habits.
Magnepan 3.7 speakers + Audio Research Ref 75 amp
Magnepan speakers have an average impedance of ~4 ohms and generally need LOTS of power. Tube amps rated at under 100 watts need not apply. So I'm told. I've also heard that Magnepan and ARC have a synergy that may be hard to beat, though I can not say I have ever listened to this combo.
So, my question is, would a 75 amp from ARC (with a power supply storage of 520 joules) be sufficient for the 3.7 Maggies in an 18' by 30' room? Has anyone heard or heard of this combo before?
Thanks in advance!
