I used to have a Magnepan IIIa home theater system. I had IIIas in the front and rear surround channels! Yes, it can be done very well. You just need a large enough room so that you can sit back enough to enjoy the imaging when in two channel. What I did was use a low TV stand for my flat screen and had the speakers far enough forward as to not have the flat screen and stand interrupt the imaging and depth the Maggies could produce for 2 channel. Having the front slightly angled towards me also helped with imaging and depth to negate any effects of the flat screen and stand.
Maggies for Home Theater/2 channel set up?
Just curious if anybody out there has tried using the Magnepan 3.7 or 20.7 in a combination Home theater and hi fi set up? Is this something that just can't be done because of the large tv and furniture racks involved that will be in between the speakers themselves or can that be over come by keeping the speakers far enough in front of the TV and audio gear. If this is a no win situation then I need to look at a different speaker.
