Yes, they do make a difference and it is easily heard. Aftermarket power cords are very affordable used. My advise is to invest in one and try it in your system, something that the naysayers rarely do as it is much easier for them to quote science, physics and opinion instead of giving advise based on experience.

randy-11, I suggest you replace your stock power cords (with any decent after market cords less that $90.00 each) on your Sonic Frontiers preamp, Sunfire amp and the CAL Icon II cd player (I think it is). Your Maggies are too close to the back wall, should be farther apart and towed out more. If you do all this, I guarantee you will hear improvement. Glass behind the panels are a no no. |

Aftermarket cables can make a difference and have in most of my projects. I suggest you find a price range you are comfortable with (I suggest used) and purchase one. Install and listen for a week or so and see if there are differences in the sound. If so are they good or bad? If you decide the original sounds better to, fine sell the aftermarket cable and enjoy your system. |
