krell showcase dvd player

i have a krell showcase dvd player, audio is ok, but video quality is terrible.
if play a dvd with compisite video or s-video, it is ok. but with component video or hdmi, it looks like a computer's display without installing video driver...

i tried all setting in dvd player, no change.
is it defective or need to upgrade firmware?
pls advise. tks.
