Krell KRC HR vs Krell Evolution 202

Hey all,

I currently have a Krell KRC HR in my system. I was considering upgrading to an Evolution 202 and changing my amp to a 402e.

I know it’s subjective and dependant on other equipment, but does anyone have experience with both and what would you go with if given a choice?

I like my KRC HR but it is much older technology. The late Bret D’Agostino thought it was the best preamp Krell ever made but he didn’t elaborate too much as to why he felt that way. The Evolution 202, although not the latest in Krell tech, has CAST which I am considering moving towards. The 202 is in my price range. The Phantom is not. And I’m not sold on much anything past Dan’s departure although Rondi is back and they may get something going soon. Still, new is not my budget.
