Krell HTS 7.1 set up

Hi all,

Well after 15 or so years, I finally picked up a Krell HTS 7.1.

right away, I noticed that my mains don't have any bass, nada, no signal to the woofers.  I'm guessing that's a set up issue.  Also, I want to assign the toslink input to Aux1 and my turntable preamp to aux 2.

I'm assuming that you need the On screen menu to do this.

However, since my panny plasma isn't 15 years old.......How can I see the menu?  I also am in need of a remote to complete the set up process, I know there are after market remotes available, but don't want to order one until I figure out the menu issue.

Thanks for your 2¢

Thanks for the advice,  I picked up a composite to HDMI converter in anticipation of this issue arising,  It hasn't helped.

I've also seen those remotes.  I'd like the OEM but it's pretty steep at over $100.00.

I may have to look for an old TV on CL as an option.

Does it make sense that I'm not getting any bottom from my speakers?  Is the preamp default set to small speakers?

Thanks again

Thanks.

I'm now in alternate panic mode.  I swapped out my old pre/pro....

still no woofers on my Martin Logan SL3's.  I'm beginning to think they're blown.
Hmmm,  I thought I ordered a composite to HDMI converter,  but what showed up was a CVBS to HDMI converter.

I'll look for the correct converter,  however, the Krell manual states that the OSD only works on interrelated screens, not progressive. I wonder if the converter would address that issue.
Make sure you connect the cable to the composite RCA output that has "OSD" printed next to it. That's the only one that will work.

You will need a remote of some kind to being up the on-screen menu (by using the MENU button on the remote). It is not accessible from the front panel of the unit.

That makes sense, as now I'm getting a blank, snowy screen.  The remote is on it's way......
Thanks everyone.

I received a call from Patrick at Krell.  He answered all of my questions. Great customer service.

And yes, my SL3 woofers are fried  :(     replacements on the way :)

I'm guessing that they've been out for a long time, but just didn't notice until getting rid of my B&K pre/pro and adding the Krell.  So much more detail with the Krell.
