Hi guys, Billy the Kid aka Alex, told me that you had asked for me. Frogman and pryso, that was very kind of you. I haven’t ran away but had some private issues that kept me occupied quite well so I needed to focus on that. However, I didn’t forget you, you surely had hiccups (yes, that was from me), ’cause I was lurking you whenever I catched some free time. Great songs you all post + you give these songs your personal touch just by the way you posting them here. Quite enjoyable to read and listen, I’ll say. Yesterday, my friend told me that she had a dream about me having a small and cozy hotel in the center of New York. So, since she dreamed about this, this must have been the truth - tonight we are having special guests in our hotel club and of course, you are all invited. : )

:) ok, i’ll take your word for it.
So O-10 is a dancer? Few moves are barely enough (:)) but now, when you have mentioned this, his writing style on this forum ’reminds me’ of him as if wearing a suit for dancing, showing the elegancy while moving smoothly along the dance floor. He has something special.
p.s. sorry, can’t picture him in a tribe...:) |
Good to see you fro, I see that you were having a good time. :-) Somehow I can't imagine you with a gun or on a vehicle constructed to deliver a high tractive effort at slow speeds. :-)
Cooking is very serious art form, you might consider sharing a recipe or two. This forum has to move to more advanced level.

Awesome...a w e s o m e. Need something like this that can last much longer...so that I do not have to change the songs.

That's great music fro. I think I have heard Come Sunday - Mahalia Jackson, first time when you posted it here. I find it very special. The tune, the song, the voice.

All good music. You will forgive me for mentioning just this one. One of the best tune ever, You do not know what love is (Don Raye, Gene de Paul). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; this is some of the most beautiful music in my collection;
https://youtu.be/pNNagah14wY I think Nina is missing in the picture: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BguiWbW5j3QWes too: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-2oHgzMLdyYSome others too, that’s for sure. One particular artist, don’t remember his name right now...You do not know what love is was one of a very few pieces that he actually made. All in all, one album only, if I am not mistaken. --> ♡ You do (not) know what love is |
Abode is interesting, where did you find it??

fro Thank you for asking for me, for the great clips and for the „ Stairway to the stars“... Being among the stars we may as well jump a bit on the Moon...

orpheus „Women are uniquely different from men, although I don't understand the difference, I appreciate it. Mary Jo, your selections display that difference in a way I can only listen and reflect on; they give us the feminine view of jazz.“ Maybe you intuitively feel that I am postin' the songs according to my emotions at the present moment so you call it 'feminine view of jazz' which is quite an interesting insight, dare to say. : ) And later you posted Nina Simone, who I also see as a strong and a striking singer with should I say a bit 'masculine' attitude. Quite good balance you gave me here. Nina - You'll Never Walk Alone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqdyI570pMo |

I am trying to see the meaning of my pre-last post. Can’t find it. Trying again. Nope. Still nothing.

O-10, everything all right? Everybody here misses you. Guys can’t say that ’cause they might be missinterpreted. I believe this is the song you like and just it happened to be that i like it too. :--) Georgia on my mind https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o22iAM77sbs |

nsp Peppe ’s music is extraordinary. You can almost touch the magic sound that comes out of his instrument, that vivid and palpable mark it leaves. I was introduced by a friend into jazz giants but in the process and in my complete ignorance (that poor knowledge still continues to be) have discovered Peppe by myself. I remember that I said to myself: Omg, who this guy is? Later found out that I run into one of ’the world’s great altoist’ as Scott Yanow, American historian and jazz reviewer once said for Peppe. I very much like this one Art Pepper ’The Prisoner’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5utT5yiQAOomade by Karen Lawrence’s song ’Prisoner’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPFOIBwKf5Q mistakenly thought to be the song written by Barbra Streisand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjMR-A5AaH8- came to be a huge hit after the song was used as the soundtrack for the movie ’Eyes of Laura Mars’ Lyrics "I’ve never been wrong But you’re the the only one I trust to show me the way I always hear your voice And in my dreams I hear you calling my name What is it about you? Some kind of light shines from your face And I can’t turn away. I’m like a prisoner Captured by your eyes, I’ve been taken And I’ve been hypnotized..." *** As for the Dusko in related to Miles, Frogman said it all. And so did you in one of your latest postings. In my opinion, I am quite sure that, the more the artists ’work’ on themselves and their art, the more they are able to shape their own and recognizable sound in the process. I think it’s inevitable. Will they try to suppress their signature or let it out on the open, I guess that’s the matter of their choice & courage & arrogance. Personally, I prefer lousy original over excellent copy (replication). |
Yes fro, no doubt about that... |
Thank you pryso for sharing. Similar was here but with a different song. I understand your sister, that music will ’haunt' us for a long period of time. |
Thank you pjw! All well here, hope you are well too. It is just that a day is often very short for all the things that I must and wanna do...

I like Fever, fro. Know it from Peggy Lee and when Elvis sings it but haven’t yet heard it in Bernadette’s performance. Actually I have perceived her so far only as an actor, so this has come as a surprise to me. Never knew that she had that talent as well. She is daring and shameless in Fever. She says she burns but she actually wanna say: Come away with me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmRT4TVCxG8Love me tender https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gzC29VwE1A |
|
The clip was not meant as a good example of “Fever” We got it fro, but wanted to emphasize our Fever version. (Mine is that one from the Elvis, the king. But even though that’s not the point here, it doesn’t hurt to mention.) Bernadette is such an actor. Her acting abilities serves her singing well. The way she moves, compensates what she wanted to say through words/voice only. Her performance is quite opposite to the one’s from Norah that I posted. It is interesting for me to see how much body language a stage singer uses as opposed to the purely voice interpretation (if such barely exists). How much of the body interpretation should be there to be sent out to the audience and how much of the share goes to voice interpretation only? Where is the balance? I guess this one is unanswerable and can be taken nearly as rhetorical question. |

These tyrants always seem to pick on trumpet players. Flugelhorn in my case.
I am sure that was for no reason...:--)) |
(I’m sure it’s obvious that Alex’s very funny clip is a parody) I would not be so sure... |
