Great find!
I have the vinyl and CD’s and have never enjoyed this video before!
RIP Wayne Shorter.

Herbie Hancock Wayne Shorter, 1+1.

@acman3
listening Tyshawn Sorey, Mesmerism now. Great find and at 42, here’s hoping to many more years of good things from him!
And in the same theme, I’m listening to The Angelica Sanchez Trio, featuring Michael Formanel & Tyshawn Sorey.
Charlie Mariano, Johnny One Note.
Some after dinner sax.
Starting the day with The Ray Brown Trio, Soular Energy.
Dogs woke us up before the sun came up, so I’ve been listening to Bertha Hope for about five hours. Mostly great piano trio and very pleasant to listen to with a dog on either side of me and a cup of coffee in my hand.
Hope you all are having a great day!
rok, you must be mistaken, cause I like Jazz.🥸
Oscar Peterson Count Basie, Night Rider.
Joanne Brackeen, Pink Elephant Magic.
I’m doing a bit of toe tapping on this album.
@frogman
I had never heard of Joey Calderazzo before, but after listening to two of his albums so far, I’m hooked.
Thanks for sharing.
Started my day off with Norwegian pianist Einar Iversen and am thinking of moving on to Milt Jackson.
Happy Happy everyone.
It’s starting off as a Hank Jones day. Here’s Love, is playing on the box
Today’s a Michael Kanan Trio day. Started off with the wonderful “The Gentleman Is A Dope” album.
@wharfy
Here’s a couple more good albums of his.
Listening to Donald Harrison, Nouveau Swing.
Erroll Garner, Nightconcert.
Today has been a Red Garland day. Three albums so far and at least two to go.
Has anyone heard the new Kirsten Edkins album, Shapes & Sound yet?
@jdougs
My pleasure. There are a few Jazz piano players that I can listen to all day, Red Garland is one.
A friend lent me 21 Brian Auger albums, a total of 23 disks! Already listened to ten.
What a talented man!

@pjw81563
I’m Playing Listen To now. Great suggestion.
@alexatpos
I agree, great album! To bad it’s not on Qobuz or Amazon HD.☹️
Listening to Kenny Barron, The Source, on this hot sticky morning.
I’ve had a note laying around that I just found and all it said was “Egil Kapstad”. And when I looked him up, to my pleasant surprise, I found a couple of wonderful albums, Remembrance, Cherokee and a few not so wonderful albums! There is one other album I liked, Live At Molde Jazz. A solo album that’s well recorded.
@stuartk
Thanks for mentioning a couple more piano players. I am vaguely aware of both George Cables and Stanley Cowrll, but I will listen to a couple of albums from each of them in the next couple of days. Any suggestions on what albums I should start with?
@stuartk
I just listened to I’m All Smiles, by G.C. And it was good. I will go down your list of both . I’m sure I will be very happy. Oh and while I had heard of G.C and S.C. , I’ve never heard of Mal Waldron. Looks like I might be up late tonight.😁
@mahgister
You wouldn’t happen to remember the name of that Tom Harrell album?
Thanks.
@stuartk
I’m lovin’ your suggestions. Just did a screenshot so I don’t forget any of them.

@stuartk
thanks again for expanding my horizons. I have listened to at least one album from everyone you mentioned and I have enjoyed most all of your suggestions .
I still really enjoy listening to simple 50’s-60’s style jazz and closing my eyes and imagining that I’m in some smoky nightclub on the lower east side, tapping my toe.
@stuartk ,
LOL, I’m a Midwest boy born and bred, but I traveled way to much during my working years. No need to suggest albums from those who you have already mentioned, I will go through the list again and listen to all I can find.😁. Then I’ll be back asking for more if you have ‘em.😊
@noromance ,
I’m listening to Julian now and I agree, it’s a well recorded album and the talent is superb!
Listening to Artemis, In Real Time.
The brainchild of pianist and composer Renee Rosnes, Artemis is a powerful ensemble of modern masters. Named for the Greek goddess of the hunt, the multinational, multigenerational band was founded in 2017.
Listening to Larry Coryell, Laid Back & Blues.
@jjss49
About halfway through the album and I must say, I like your warm hearted suggestion 😁
Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden, Beyond The Missouri Sky.
@stuartk
A while back you said something about Penguin helping you get your start. What were you talking about?
My passport is up to date just in case I have to go to the Antarctic. 😁
Thanks @acman3
At $200-300 for a copy, I just ordered it from my local library.😁
Billy Higgins, 3-4 For Peace.
Thanks @alexatpos
I’ll either order this or see if the library has it after I’m finished with the Penguin guide.
@stuartk
I have always had a broad palette when it came to music. Jazz was Herbie, Bob James, Brubeck, Weather Report, Earl Klugh. Much later came The Rippingtons, Yellow Jackets. all the Arts and a few others. In the last ten years is when I got much more into the more classic jazz players. Miles, Coltrain, Barron, Dizzy etc. as well as new/current talent. As long as music doesn’t go to far into the weeds, I’ll listen to it.
I just ordered the Penguin book on Jazz recordings from the library and am looking forward to reading it.
Thanks again for your guidance.
@acman3
And I appreciate it.
Hey CuriousJim, I was just showing you what Stuartk was referencing. That was the 1st that appeared, so no idea on cost. I'm sure the library is cheaper.
