Jazz for aficionados
I'm going to review records in my collection, and you'll be able to decide if they're worthy of your collection. These records are what I consider "must haves" for any jazz aficionado, and would be found in their collections. I wont review any record that's not on CD, nor will I review any record if the CD is markedly inferior. Fortunately, I only found 1 case where the CD was markedly inferior to the record.
Our first album is "Moanin" by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. We have Lee Morgan , trumpet; Benney Golson, tenor sax; Bobby Timmons, piano; Jymie merrit, bass; Art Blakey, drums.
The title tune "Moanin" is by Bobby Timmons, it conveys the emotion of the title like no other tune I've ever heard, even better than any words could ever convey. This music pictures a person whose down to his last nickel, and all he can do is "moan".
"Along Came Betty" is a tune by Benny Golson, it reminds me of a Betty I once knew. She was gorgeous with a jazzy personality, and she moved smooth and easy, just like this tune. Somebody find me a time machine! Maybe you knew a Betty.
While the rest of the music is just fine, those are my favorite tunes. Why don't you share your, "must have" jazz albums with us.
Enjoy the music.

When I first entered the page, I was asked if I was older than 21. Well I obviously had to lie... https://www.dogfish.com/brewery/beer/wood-aged-bitches-brew |
What can I say. Her reputation extends into the world of Blues. You always cheer me up. :-* <3 :--) |
I am glad to hear that all is ok guys. This climate change will cost us more than we can afford...More and more of this is waiting for us in the nearest future. And that is and will be our legacy. Perhaps the music can redeem us. Partly. But when one day all of us would be gone, who will be here to listen to? Thanks for Tom Harrell, "Darn that Dream" |

rok :--)))) That is filmed few minutes from my home! I like the way it is called in video, Dalmatian blues. Actually a form of traditional a cappella singing in Dalmatia, Croatia. I must add that the form itself and city center are both listed, first one under UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the other one under UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the little alleys of Trogir, besides the "blues", you can also hear "All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth". Evidence to this and more photos of this town often called "little Venice" you may find below. (me behind the camera) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2YqsuCzuy0 (the video ending was like that because the gathering was forbidden and limited to I think, 20 persons max :--)) |
Ne Me Quitte Pas...as much as I love Nina, can't find her in this. Maybe, if I listen to her tomorrow, the other day will change the way I see it...but... Maysa, Ne Me Quitte Pas https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hfr5FHPXJQs |

Thanksgiving "joke" (not strictly related to Thanksgiving) A man called up his adult daughter and told her the bad news: He and his wife were getting a divorce. “But why, dad? What happened?” the daughter asked. “I’ve been miserable for years and I just can’t take it anymore. I’ve packed my bags and I’m leaving tonight!” the father replied. “Wait, dad! Don’t do anything drastic. I’m coming over to talk to you guys. Can you at least wait until tomorrow?” asked the daughter. “OK, why don’t you bring John and the kids, too. I’m sure your mom will want to see them,” the dad said. “OK,” said the daughter. “See you then.” The man hung up the phone, then said, “Honey! The kids are coming over for Thanksgiving!” |
