jadis defy 7 with kt150 tubes. can it handle it???
my customer brought a jadis defy 7 to me and he is dying to use kt150 output tubes. at the 465 volts on the plates, these 70 watt dissipation capable tubes should running at 75 to 85 ma each (at least!) to operate without crossover distortion. that’s around 37 watts plate dissipation. the power section would have to supply almost an 1000ma at idle, the output transformers half of that each (and around 40% more at full output). the individual tube fuse values would have to be doubled too, and the 180 ohm cathode bias resistor test points will be set to around 14 volts. will this amplifier be capable (and safe) doing that? my guess is yes, but i’d like to hear it from someone else more familiar with these.............
