I've used EQ's and DBX units in the past but I don't now. I subscribe to the less is more bunch. I keep my system as simple as I can. THD means nothing to me, I can't connect low THD with good sound.

Is there an audible difference using peripherals
Curious what you impression is of using separates to "enhance" overall sound. Basically, I'm using a .003%THD Amp/Preamp system accompanied w/an outboard 10 band EQ, DBX expander, and Impulse noise reduction unit for vinyls. These separates are NOT as clean and are all roughly .01% THD @ 1V.
Now I cannot detect any major audible differences, but the EQ definitely puts everything into perspective.
Should provoke some interesting responses. Since I run the outboard devices via my TAPE 1, I can easily switch back and forth depending on the recorded source material.
