Is relative polarity between headphone left &
right speakers necessary?
I am running headphones (Beyerdynamics 770 pro) off 2 mono amps (old Heathkit 3 watters) using two mono 1/4 phono jacks, which gives great sound and separation, but I am not sure of the polarity for each can since I couldn't identify which wire was the common on the original three wire plug. The four wires were different colours so that was no help. I tried switching wires on one of the mono jacks, but couldn't detect any difference. Maybe because the sound outputs from each side are completely isolated from each other in listening, polarity doesn't matter.
Thoughts?
