iPod Commercial/Reading Music

2 questions:

1. Does anyone know who the singer is and what the song is on the current iPod commercial on TV?

2. My son is developing into quite the guitarist but needs to learn how to read music. Any recommendations on a good, basic book to learn how to read music?

Thanks.

The song you are probably referring to is "Bruises" by Chairlift, featured on the new Nano spots, which are getting heavy exposure.

There have been plenty others including Feist, but that was on the "Fatboy" squarish ipod that hasn't been sold for a while.

Sorry, I should have noted that Music Ace uses a piano as it's reference. If your son is willing to learn piano and you can provide an 88 key midi controller ($200 and up)this could still be a great choice. Otherwise try to find a similar program that is guitar based. I'm sure it's out there somewhere. You'll likely need to provide a midi guitar - but I still suspect this is the best way to go for a student who wants to learn to read without a teacher.

You could try the software package called "Music Ace Deluxe" from Harmonic Visions software. I'm going to use it to teach my daughter to read music - and she's 3 years old. I've reviewed it over the last few weeks and feel that it's probably very effective for ages 5 to 50.

Good Luck

I believe the singer on the commercial is Feist, a Canadian female who is forging a solo career in addition to her work with the band by the same name.

On the second question, sorry, I can't help there.
