Interconnect with great dynamics and bass slam ,

I recently purchased some Cardas Golden cross sepaker cables. They replaced my Dh Lab Q10s. I replaced the Q10s because i was getting some upper mid freq brightness.
I have Golden Cross interconnects from preamp to amp and from cd player to pre amp. The sound is very smooth and detailed .The bass and mid bass is not as authorative or as tight. The highs are better - more detailed and smooth.
The problem is the sound is almost too smooth the bass is kind of rounded off now .The sound is less dynamic.
My Question is.
Is there an interconnect that could give me back that great bass and dynamics of that i had with the Q10s, without the harshness i was getting. I think i would like to keep the Golden Cross speaker cables and try changing the ICs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Well Audiolabyrinth , I just haven't had much to say lately.
I have put the Q10 speaker Cables back in my sytem and have the Cardas Golden Cross Speaker Cables on ebay right now. I am kind of keeping my eye on trying some tara labs air 1 interconnects.I just don't like the prices i am seeing . So , it may be a bit before i try them.
I am still waiting fo Waxwaves final thoughts on the air one compared to the Analysis Plus solo crystal oval . I am also hoping he will try them from source to Pre in place of the discovery essence , just to see how they are. I personally think the most diffence in a cable can be heard from the source to the pre , rather than pre to amp. I have always heard the most discernable differences when the cable was in that spot.
I am also considerring building or buying a PC to use as a music server , and running optical out to a DAC. The Dac i am considering the most is the Wyred4sound DAC2.
I will admit , it will probably be this fall before i venture into this . I will, however, be doing a lot of research in the meantime regarding this venture .
Take Care
I tried the solo crystal ovals . There are very revealing . I did not like their forward presentation though
@ Wig
What is Acoustic Zen Absolute copper ?
I see that maybe they introed it at CES 2013 , but it doesn't show that it is available on their website yet ?
Where would you get this from ?
Well adam , That sounds like high praise indeed for those Taras . I'll have to keep an eye out for a good deal (cause i am a tightwad )on those. I think that you have my numbers ,if not PM me. Thanks again for the review on tha Tharas and all of the other info you have provided to us on the forum .
Audiolabyrinth, you too deserve a lot of thanks for pushing everone over to the Taras. Thanks for your persistence and your insight.
Arg!! I don't really want to spend the money right now.
I have to buy a a/c compressor for my car , a diving board for my pool and i just purchased some $400 dollar saddlebags for mhy motorcycle. I am just going to have to wait a bit . I do thank everyone for the insight on the Tara cables and i will definately try some ICs next or maybe speaker cables , at least the Air 1 or above .
I sure would like to hear from anyone who has tried the Air 1 speaker cables and the DH Labs Q10s .
Thanks again to all
I just made an offer of $650. for those Tara Labs Air 1 speaker cables .
Will we see what happens
@Audiolabyrinth
I hope i'll get it by the end of the week .
BTW , I am shipping your thing today.
Well Waxwaves, That diving board may have to wait after all.
Found out that my 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 has a dead Power Commander .Thats 300 bucks. I would just not worry about it , BUT the guy that had the bike before me added Vance and Hines Exhaust and K&N Air filter. This allows for much more air flow , but because of that you have to add more fuel, the reason for needing the Power Commander.
Right now since it is dead , i am running way too lean. The bike wants to jerk when you let off the gas and when you put it on because its too lean (not enough fuel in the mix). Just ordered one of those . OUCH
Daughter has to have her wisdom teeth cut out .
Damn there goes a thousand after insurance.
Kids are expensive .
She is in college too. One more year and she Graduates .
Hopefully she graduates !!
Well.
Since they are not brand new , i would not think it would take 200 hours . They are already sounding really good .
Compared to the Q10s they are quieter. The sound is fuller and more fleshy on the bass and mid -bass. the top end is still really good with not a hint of glare or brightness.
I noticed myself listening to a lot of Cds that i would not listen to much with the Q10s.
Also, because of the lack of Glare and how quiet they are , I found myself turning up the volume more.
Rock music is especially good with these cables. Whereas with the Q10s , depending on the recording it could sound a little harsh. Not with theses Air 1s !!!
Everything sounds good with these speaker cables .
I AM IMPRESSED!!!
Well, just hanging out. Sounds like you had some real fun shipping your amp. WOW, what a chore. Diving board is up and we are using it. Water is nice temp. Not too cold not too hot. I hope all is well down your way .
how long will they have your amp?

@ Grey9hound, I listened to the cd,I do not know what kind of music you call that?, very strange music, Its not new age music, I have some of that, any way, Thankyou, Cheers!
Well, sorry . It doesn't sound like you liked it too well . It is just way different , Has very COOl sounds , IF you let it ALL play and don't just skim through it. plus it has very DEEP BASS.
Jusyt wondered how your speakers did on that bass . Mine sound like Subs are playing on this cd
For Everyone else , The CD is "THe K & D sessions disc #1
by Kruder and Dorfmeister. Its prettty much a Classic in that type of music Tchno/Retro/New Age /Dance.
If you play it in its entirety and more than once, you will appreciate what i am saying .CHEERS
I think i did post a review.

Grey9hound (System | Threads | Answers | This Thread)

They are not as overly full sounding , now. They seem to have better detail , But the Bass with the Q10s on the Bottom is very articulate and DEEP. I am not sure if its just the Q10s on the bottom or the Taras on the mids-bass.
But i really like what i am getting with this combo and setup .
@ Waxwaves . If you get into knoxville give me a yell and come and critique my system for me . i think that is darn good for the money and equipment that i have . I had better leave it alone for a while . If i change something again, i could mess up things.

@ grey9hound, I did not know that was your conclusion review?,I did tell you they would settle down when you are running them in, I bet if you put those speaker cables on the bottom post for 3 or 4 days to settle in, they would blow the q- 10s out of the water with bass!, and more articulate! cheers!
I find it very hard to beleive the Taras would blow away the Q10s in the Bass Dept. I have found nothing better for Deep Articulate Bass. I am not saying there isn't anything better , but if there is ,I am not aware of it .
STOP IT with the bottom post thing , already !!!
I am 51. You will have to come by and listen when you can come to Knoxville. we can trade some music maybe.
Let me know
See Ya ,
Dennis
I could Indeed . It just seems quite a waste to use the air 1s on just bass modules ?
I'll try it one day. Not Today though
@Davea33
Well , you are gonna have to tell us the other 3

I'm a bit late to the party, but this weekend I just compared 4 interconnects. By far the interconnect that had best dynamics and bass slam was CRL-FIM interconnect. The bass had great articulation and realism. As someone else mentioned OCC copper is the way to go for what you are looking for.
Which interconnect is it from them ?
I se that CRL stands for Cable Rsearch Lab , but what is FIM?
First Impression Music ?
This is what the company was called before . Now they have settled om the name CRL, right ?
here is a link that might help

well not all of the post got there . What i tried to say is ADAM has the Japanese pressing .. not me

Hello Gents, I see we are talking about different kinds of music now. That sounds like my cup o tea! Grey9hound, K&D is alright man, how old are you? I am a Thievery Corporation kinda guy myself. "The Outernational Sound" is my fav. Did you try Little Dragon?
Audiolabyrinth, my man, hope you are enjoying Dennis' favorite tunes played on your jaw dropping setup and havn some cold ones buddy! Give us some of you favs dude, and I hope it's not gonna be any of that "new rock" trash brother. That is almost as bad as this "pop country" crap that is all over the radio here.
C'Mon Audiolabyrinth tell us some of those CDs that you like .I need to get some spun up for Waxwaves who needs to come to knoxville and Critique my little Budget system.
I know i sent you a lot of Contemporary blues., which i would bet Waxwaves and even POps would like .
@Davea33
Which interconnect from FIM-CRL are you referring to. They currently make many different ones. Which ones from the older FIM-CRL company. Do they have any designation as to the Model # or type . What are they called .they currently offer bronze, silver , gold and blue as their designation .
Also could you please tell us what the other 3 interconnects were that you tested them against.
Thanks
Alright Keith , I am calling you out on this !
We want to know which of those Cds you like if any , PLEASE
@ Hessec
I am sorry to tell you , butAudiolabyrfinth is well respected here in the forum . He is a Very knowledgeable audiophile . Yes , he is pretty enthusiastic about Tara Labs cables , but it is from many years of experience and knowledge in the world of Audio . He pushes Tara ,as we all know , but like i said , it is from much experience . i have recently purchased some Tara Labs Air 1 speaker cables, and they are the best i have ever owned . So , please refrain from your uninformed responses . All of us who know him realizes that , he does get carried away with his enthusiasm, but I Truly beleive it is because he wants everone else to enjoy the experiences that he has had with cables . Yes he comes on a little strong ,and doesn't always get his words right, but he is trying to help everyone else .
So your poke at him does not sit well with folks on the forum , especially since you have it wrong.
It would be nice if you had something to add ,other than trying to be-little someone else . Really it just shows your in-maturity.
Most people who post try to add somethihg of VALUE.
Its really what these forums are for .... gaining knowledge, Not trying to call out someone else .
Please post something of Value , if not please refrain from trying to insult others .
Thanks for the info Davea33
I will keep my eyes open , and try some if i can come across them.
This from TGB
The High Fidelity Cables are quite unusual as the rest on a conductor that is not normally considered for wire. And they sound quite different from all other ics and speaker wires I have heard. With their CT-1 Ultimates I am getting a realism I had never heard before. Are they the best in the world? How would I know? If you don't take of an opportunity to hear them, you are missing something unique.
Well i acnnot even get the CT-1 Ultimates to pull up at all . On their website , when you click on them they say "coming soon "
There price of $4900 per 1 meter pair, is way out of my leauge. Oh , i just found them at The Cable Co .
Thank you Keith. I wish you the best of luck with everything you do. I hope that amp works out for you . I thank you for helping me find some really awesome cables that work wonderfully in my setup. i appreciate your enthusiasm in helping everyone here on the forum. I know some people may not understand where you are coming from , but i do. Thanks again for everything . Hope you like those Cds

Wow Grey9hound, you have japanese pressings!, thats cool, and I bet exspensive! cheers!
From Waxwaves
05-22-13: Waxwaves
John, I gotta Japanese audiophile pressing of "Idlewild South" that sounds great, I love it! Digging your selections, btw! God Bless ya Ray Manzarek, may your memory and music live on!
Speaker Cables are sounding GREAT. I actually replaced the Coax RCA Interconnects that i was using from Pre-Amp to amp for the Bass section of my L/R speakers with some Cardas Crosslink 2 that i had . I like the sound better now . That bit of Extra fullness that i hade before is now Gone. The other coax sounded a bit slow and fat . The Cardas has hepled that a lot .
Also , the Bass section of my speakers actually receives a Full Range Signal. They are 8 inch Wool/Carbon Woofers. The same Woofer is used for the mids ,except that it has a voicecoil. These are proprietary woofers made for John Sollecito @ Source Technolgy .
I also heard that the company that makes them for him , may have let someone else use them in their speakers , without his permission of course. I beleive that company is Cinepro.
I beleive they use the same Woofers in their Cinepro Evo Mighty Speakers ..
Anyway My System is Sounding better than ever .
OH, Keith , I did switch the Tara speaker cables from the top to the bottom and put the Q!0s on the bottom.
The sound was very similar in the Bass , but the top end was a little harsher with the Q10s on top. I found the Bass to be a little less articulte and just a touch slower than with the Q10s on the bass .The Q10s are just better at bass , but not by a lot . And likewise , the Tara Air1s are better at the mids and the highs . well at least in my system . The Taras are smoother on the top end with a little less emphasis on the mids and especially the highs . Mids and Highs are more forward with the Q10s on top .
SO .I put them all back to their proper location which is where they will stay .
I may be wrong on the other company that uses his wool/carbon design, I had ask him once before , but he would not say for sure.
That is the only other compnay that i could find that uses wool/carbon.

@ Grey9hound, when did you get the other amp?

Have you Seen THIS

@ Grey9hound, What are you up to?, Kinda quite!, Since you are in knoxsville, have you been keeping up with Danielle Bradberry of the voice show?, I know she is fron Texas, she still sings great!, cheers!
I have not been doing much. No , I do not keep up with The Voice or any of those others shows like that .
When i watch TV it is The Science Channel , History or ones like those . I do NOT watch regular broadcast TV at all.
My Favorite shows are on the channles i mentioned. I especillay like "The Planets" and "Acient Aliens" is one of definatley one of my Favorites.
I am Very happy with my setup now . Those Tra Labs Air 1 speaker cables have come in to their own. Since i Replaced the bass interconnect fron the Rg6 from monoprice with the Cardas Crosslinks ,the sound is much improved . The Bass is much better difined ann not so fat and Slow sounding.
Until i did this i had forgotten that i had spoken to John Sollecito from Source Technology Speakers , and i remembered that he told me that my bass modules in my spekars actually receive a Full Range signal. So thats why they sound better now . Those Rg6 interconnects i was using are too bass fat and slow sounding . I really do not know what they would be good for. The tracsh can is the best for them i think .
Adam had come trough town last weekend and offered up hid McCormack .05 for my audition , but i had to respectfully decline as i had a lot going on and i owuld have had to take out my other LPA-1 just to tyr thte McCormack.
I actually am using 2 LPa-1s .The top one for my Rear speakers and my outdoor and Center channel speakers. I am also Bi-amping the Center. So a total of 5 Cahnnels on the top one and The bottom one i am using for the Mains (4 Channels ). I am very happy with the Tara Speaker Cables . They are slighly rolled off on top , which is why they work well for me .You know those budget Solid State amps are are little Sharp or Hard on the highs . The Tara
Air1s are perfect for that .
Thanks for all of you persuasion on those.
Hey anybody want to come jump in the POOOL .Its OPen !
New Diving Board . Still need to fix the A/C in my Car, but since i bought the Taras the A/C in my car will have to wait . LOL !! True though !
Damn. I Can't type for SHI++T.
I never took typing in high school, That was for Sissies. I am rgretting that now.LOL!
Has anyone been watching "Live From Daryl's House"? I really enjoyed the episodes with Smokey Robinson, Todd Rundgren, Nick Waterhouse, and Booker T among others! There's some interesting history involving the houses that are "Daryl's House", where the show is filmed most of the time. Still pretty cheesy, but some good tunes make it worth checking out
I caught one episode and thought it was cool. I thought i set my DVR to record them , But I must have just thought that i should ,and ended up forgetting to . I'll have to DVR some of those. i had to look up Who the hell was Darryl
LOL! I didn't know , even after watching one episode . I guess i was never a big fan of him and the other guy JOHN.
Adam,Lets try to get together and drink a Bloody Mary sometime ,
You bought another LpA-1?, I always thought you had one amp!,
I am using a total of 10 channels. 5 channels from each amp. TWO LPA-1 amps
2 channels for Center(Bi-amp) ;2 channels for Left(Bi-amp) ;2 channels for Right(Bi-amp); 2 channels for Surrounds; 2 channels for Outdoor speakers.

I am at the pool today. The water is nice and the beers are going down good . The Music sounds Awesome.!
I am off on july 4th 5th 6th and 7th. If you could swing it , it would be a good time to come and hit the pool.
Got a gas grill hooked up to the gas suplly at the house . We can Grill some food. What do you think ?
I would even buy a keg if you both come !!!!
@Audiolabyrinth
Wow, I can't believe they made you build that that crate for shipping, then they want to charge you for a new shipping box. What the Hell?
I understand about the finances . It is going to take me a while to get caught up.I have spent money for a new Power Commander for My Vulcan 2000, Viking saddlebags, new diving board, and I had a problem with my sand filter spitting sand in the pool. I Found out the pipe for the laterals was broken. I bought a new valve and new laterals and pipe and put in new sand .
Now i am broke !
Well, I am glad you got them straightened out . At least it seems so. I still would not let them charge me $300 dollars for shipping material . As much as you will have to pay for the repairs , that should be included ! They sound like a bunch of greedy bastards to me . That really makes me turn against buying a KRELL. That is the other thing that you should tell them. Tell them that you ahve posted your bad experience with Krell on Audiogon for everyone to see.
Tell them that you are going to post for everyone to avoid Krell. Tell them that you will post that you think they are a rip off, and that you will recommend that everyone avoid them at all cost .
THAT, I promise WILL get there attention. Well at least it should. If it doesn't, then there are a bunch of pompus assholes, which may be the case anyway.
GOOD LUCK.
@Audiolabyrinth. Well Congratulations on the power cord .
Are you going to try it on the Krell or on the Ayon2 ?
I would be interested to know how it sounds on the amp, well really would like to know what it does for the Ayon also.
When do you get the Krell back?
I bet you are going crazy without the amp in your system . I know i would be !
Well its been pretty hot here and not a lot of rain lately. I know you want it to rain so you can stay busy. I planted 14 Tomato plants. They are lokking really GOOD. I have big Green Tomatos , but no red ones yet. It won't be long.
two of m y favorite things about summer are ...Toamatos and Silver Queen corn. i could eat those until they run out my ears !!
keep us posted on the amp and power cord.
Take Care.
WOW ! That is a DEAL ! . I want to hear how it performs when you get the Krell back in service. I'll see about Tomatoes. Still no red ones .. except for the Small Sweet 100s ... salad type Tomato
Sony CDP-M555ES CDPlayer and analog out with Cardas Golden Cross to the Marantz.
@1graber2
I ended up with the tara labs Air1 speaker cables. I am still using the Golden Cross ICs for now. I will try something different, but it will be a little while.
Thanks for the Reccomendations. The Nordost might be a little pricey for me . I'll have to see what is available when i am ready.
@ Audiolabyrinth.
DAMMIT MAN ! I can't believe that place in FLA Screwed it up. Is that where you bought it from ?
Find out exactly what it is they F'D up .I would definately call them and let them know the problem. Then explain to them that you need to get some money back from them because of their F.n it UP. Maybe like $1000.00
This way ,even if they won't give you any money, you can tell them that you will drag their name through the mud on Audiogon and All other Forums that you can think of .This might get their attention.
Start naming off all of the Forums that you will use to do this . See what their response is then . That is What I would do .
GOOd LUCK MAN,
happy Listening (in a few months )
