Buying stuff is overrated.

Couldn't agree more. We need to end the era of irrational consumption. This chaos in some ways could actually help with that... so there is that.

of course, instead of arguing with facts, you resort to insults. Thank you for proving my point. You also saved time for yourself by avoiding to learn what happened  in the real world, congrats. (Or perhaps you know but you don't care.)

If I read back several of your comments on the subject in the last 4 weeks, you are full of contradictions. The only way to stay consistent, as wiser people figured it out, is to follow the facts.

the prior administration raised the original Trump tariffs another 25% in 2021/22.

He did NOT. It's a lie. Any raise was largely symbolic and selective on products that did not affect consumers.

It's impossible to argue with facts that aren't.

in 2021/2022??? Your link is for  2024. Where are the facts?

Not to mention

1. it was targeted tariffs for products the US makes that don't destroy but help the country

2. 145% vs 25-50%

3. wasn't changing back and forth and lifted on items  for friends and family

4....

I have no idea why you are bringing covid into this, about which I said nothing. I cannot follow your "logic". I give up :(

@gdaddy1 the fact that it has been a problem (and let's not forget that the growth in the US outpaced the EU and the rest of the world by triple digits in the 2020s - nobody is taking advantage of us) doesn't mean the current chaos is in any way a good solution.

I am just curious for whose request are my comments removed. I am appalled by a lot of comments but I never have them removed. (Partly because they are so dumb, so full of lies, they should remain as warnings and reminders for people with any brain cells left.)

you can keep knocking USAID, you have no clue what it does. Seems like you have no idea about what the government does either. It's sad to see the world so full of sociopaths and the arrogance and ignorance screwing up all of our futures.

How this post is alive is beyond me.
