I've just gone to stereo subs

And I'm using the high pass speaker connections. The subs obviously have right/left input connections. I'm using a single 12ga wire from the amp speaker taps to either right OR left inputs on each sub. My question: is there an advantage to using a 16/4 cable and doubling up on the amp end and using all four inputs on the subs?
