Hydra 2 for my Mcintosh MA6900?

Okay so I am not very knowledge in this area - but my building is rather old and I am a bit weary about not having a power conditioner for my McIntosh MA6900. I only have it hooked up with my VPI Scout, so a Hydro 2 will suffice. But, is the Hydra 2 the right thing for me? I am not specifically wondering if there are better conditioners, I am more thinking if I am looking at the wrong thing. If I am looking at the wrong thing, is there a neat solution for under $500? Or do I need to open my wallet up further to have any sense of purpose?
