Try to find a Cal Delta transport to go with your Sigma and bag the Toslink for a digital coax or balanced cable.
Once you get a digital inferface you like, bypass the input selector switch on the Sigma.
The Sigma circuit board is very easy to work on, better coupling caps, power supply caps, diodes and resistors will also give you a lot bang for the buck.
Try switching to a glass toslink cable. I had a very pleasent experience with a Wirewolrd Supernova III+ toslink. I would go as far as to say that it has been the most norable cable improvement I'v done.
There's another glass tosling selling for 30 bucks on ebay. I bought one to compare with the WW but haven't done so yet.
Thats kinda the truth for most things, but there comes a point of diminishing returns.
My question would be, do I need to spend at least $2k to hear a "big" improvment? $1k? Or are those two component stong enough to hold thier own with and CD player or CD/DAC combo under $1k.
